SCOPE 1.1 This specification covers an envelope suitable for dis- pensing dr

Material for the envelopes shall be of the hgheet quality througho

9、ut, and suitable for the purpose intended. 3.1.1 Faper. The paper shall be white woven, tub-sized, and of suitabla composition so that: lines ruled or characters written with 5nk shall be clear cut. After erasure of ruled lines and written QL typed characters, the paper shall retain good writing and

10、 typing quality, and appearance of surface. Paper shall consist of LOO percent chemical bleached wood pulp fibers, when tested in accordance with 4.4.2. The paper shall have a minimum bursting strength of 25 points ac tested on a standard Mullen tester in accsranee with 4.4.3. The paper shall have a

11、 basis weight of 90.2 grams + 5% per square meter (24 pounds 3. 5% for 500 sheets 17 by 22 inches) when tested in accordance with 4.4.4, quality, light in color, nontoxic and tasteless. obnoxious to the smell, and shall be of the best adhesive quality, capable sf being quickly activated with water.

Drug dispensing envelopes shall be 2-1/2 (+ 1/8,-1/16) inches by 4-1/4 (2 LI8 - 1/16) inches, full gum pay-.

14、. or coin envelopes. may be sealed. with a gum-sealing agent (see 3.1.2), along its entire inside length. be in accordance with Figure 1. All printing,inoluding borders, . shall be a medium green color as demonstrated by the standard color sample which will be provided upon request by the procuring

15、activity (see 6.2). and legible. the gumned side of the flap shall adhere instantly to the envelope,. and shall remain so firmly affixed after drying 2 hours, cannot be removed without pulling fibers from the paper. Unless otherwise specified in the contract-or purchase order, the supplier is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except- as otherwise specified ins the contract or purchase order, the supplier may

19、 use his own or any other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government, The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification.where such inspections are deemed necessary to a

20、ssure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. . 4.1.1 Records. Records of examinations and tests performed by or for the contractor shall be maintained by the contractor and made available to the Government, upon the Gove*rnments request, at any time, or from time to time, during t

21、he performance of the contract and for a period of 3 years after delivery of the supplies to which such records relate. Inspection, as used in this specification, is defined as both examination (such as visual or auditory inves- tigation without the use of special laborat

24、ory appliances or pro- cedures) and testing (determination by technical means of physical and chemical properties) of the item. 4.1.3 Certificates of quality. Certificates of quality,sup- plied by the manufacturer of the paper, may be furnished in lieu of actual performance of such testing by the co

25、ntractor, provided lot identity has been maintained and can be demonstrated to the Government. The certificate shall include the name of the contractor, the contract number, the name of the manufacturer or supplier, the NSN, the item identification, the name of the material, the lot number, the lot

26、size, the sample size, the date of testing, the test method, individual test results, and the specification requirements. 4.2 Sampling, 4.2.1 For examination. Sampling for examination shall be performed in accordance with MIL-STD-105 and Table I. The unit of product is one envelope. TABLE I. visual

33、ees than 100 envelopes. Inspection level shall be S-I. 4,4 Tests. Teste shall be conducted to determine compliance with specification requirements. The sample unit shall be three env%opes. Not more than one sample unit, randomly selected, shall be drawn from any exterior container. For testing purpo

34、ses, the lot salze shall bo expressed in packages o 100 envelopes. Any dimension not within the tolerance 4,4m1 Papor conditioning. Prior to tests, paper shall be con- dftioned in accordance with TAPPI test method T 402. 4.4.2 Paper. Paper shall be tested for fiber analysis in ac- cordance with TAPP

Paper bursting strength shall be det- ermined in accordance with TAPPI test method T 403. 4.4.4 Basis weight. Paper shall be tested for basis

36、weight in accordance with TAPPI test method T 410. 4.4.5 Adhesion with water. The gummed side of the flap shall be moistened with water, pressed firmly against the envelope sealing surface, and examined for adequate sealing at the end of two hours. + A - 4.4.6 Blocking. Condition an envelope at 73 d

37、egrees Fahrenheit (OF.), 3O, and 80% percent relative humidity, 2 2 percent, for 24 hours. t the end of the conditioning period, place the gummed flap of the envelope against the envelope surface, place a weight, equivalent to 1 pound per square inch, on the flap and allow envelope to remain in the

38、stated atmospheric condition for another 24 hours. 4.5 Packaging inspection. The inspection of the unit, inter- mediate package, packing and marking for shipment and storage shall be in accordance with quality assurance provisions of the applicable container specification and the marking requirement

39、s of MIL-STD-129. 5. PACKAGING 5.1 Packaging. Packaging shall be Level A or C, as specified (see 6.1). 5.1.1 Unit of issue. One package containing one hundred envel- opes, as specified, constitutes one unit of issue. 5.1.2 Level A. 5.1.2.1 Unit package. One hundred envelopes shall be clean, dry and

40、secured with a paper band or shall be packaged in a box con- forming to PPP-B-566 or PPP-B-676. Closure shall be as specified in the appendix of the applicable box specification. 7 5.1.2.2 Intermediate package. Twelve unit packages shall be packaged in a box conforming to PPP-B-566, PPP-B-636, class

41、 domestic or PPP-B-676. Closure shall be as specified in the appendix of the applicable box specification. 5.1.3 Level C. One hundred envelopes shall be clean, dry and packaged in a manner that will afford adequate protection against deterioration and physical damage during shipment from the supply

42、source to the first receiving activity. 5.2 Packing.
