SCOPE AND CLASSIFICATI
2、ON 1.1 Scope. This specification covers a compressed chemical fuel with low luminosity characteristics (see 6.1). 1.2 Classification. The compressed fuel shall be f the following types as specified (see 6.2): Type I - 30 grams (scored). Type II - 15 grams (unscored). 2. APPLICABLE M)CUMENTS 2.1 The

REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Materia
8、l. The ingredients of the compressed fuel shall be as follows: 3.1.1 Trioxane. -. -. - Trioxane shall be of such purity that the performance of finished fuel bars compressed therefrom, using the formulation in table I, shall meet the requirements of this specification. 3.1.2 Magnesium stearate. Magn
9、esium stearate shall be a low-luminosity powder of such fineness that 100 percent will pass through a 325-mesh sieve (see table II). 3.1.3 Dye. The dye used to impart color to the fuel shall be methylene blue (see table II). 3.2 Chemical composition. The chemical composition of the compressed fuel s

The compressed fuel shall be a densely molded, light blue, non-brittle bar of uniform texture. Each bar shall be 3-1/4 + 1/16 inches long, 1-1/4 + 1/16 inches wide and 3/8 5 1/16 inch in thickn
12、ess. One face of the bar shall be indented in two places to a depth of 1/32 inch to facili- tate breaking into three approximately equal pieces when desired. Corners of the bar shall be rounded and the edges beveled or rounded. 3.3.2 Type II. The compressed fuel shall be a densely molded, light blue
13、, non-brittle bar of uniform texture. inches long, 1-1/4 + 1/16 inches wide and 3/8 bar shall not be indented. beveled or rounded. Each bar shall be 1-5/8 + 1/16 1/16 inch in thickness. 14、1 grams. 3.4.2 Type II. The finished bar shall weigh 15 2 0.5 grams. 3.5 Performance. When tested as specified in 4.4.5, the compressed fuel shall conform to the following requirements: 3.5.1 Stability. Fuel shall maintain its solid state while burning. 3.5.2 Odor of combustion products. There shall
15、 be no strong odor of for- maldehyde. 3.5.3 Flame characteristics. The fuel shall burn with a steady, blue flame of low luminosity with only occasional flashes of color other than blue and with no objectionable increase in luminosity. 3.5.4 Fuel life. 3.5.4.1 Type I. At ambient temperatures between

At ambient temperatures between
17、 65 and 80F. the burning time for one bar of fuel shall be not less than five (5) minutes. i 3.6 Labeling. 3.6.1 Unit package. 3.6.1.1 Type I. One side of each wrapper on each individual bar shall be legibly printed with black water-resistant ink conforming to the test specified in 4.4.7 with the fo

23、d, uniform in composition and texture with no separation of components and shall not be brittle. The blue color shall be reasonably uniformly distri- buted throughout the bar. Score marks, where applicable, shall be sharp and straight. leakage when tested in accordance with 4.4.6. Wrappers shall fit
24、 the bars snugly and show no . 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the supplier is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein, Except as otherwise specified, in the co
25、ntract or order, the supplier may use his own or any other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection require- ments specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Govern- ment reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such
26、inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. 4.2 Sampling for inspection and tests. Sampling for inspection and tests shall be in accordance with the provisions of Standard MIL-STD-105, except where otherwise indicated. shall consist of all mat
27、erial of the same type and contruction from the same manufactured batch and shall be limited to the number of bars produced in a single workday (24 hours). For purposes of sampling for inspection, a lot 4.2.1 Inspection of components and materiais. The supplier shall be responsible for insuring that
28、 the quality assurance provisions for components or materials shall be in accordance with this specification and with referen- ced subsidiary specifications to the extent applicable. In the event of con- flict, this specification shall govern. 4.3 Inspection of the end item. 4.3.1 Examination of the

The end item shall be examined in accordance with the classification of defects in the applicable subpara- graphs at the inspection levels and acceptable quality levels (AQLs) set forth in 4.3.1.4. of the same type for examination of visual, contents and preparation for delivery defects.

An examination shall be made to determine that markings, materials, workmanship and contents comply with the requirements of Section 5 of this spe

Length, width and thickness and depth of scoring in type I bar, shall be determined by individually measuring three (3) bars and calculating the average dimensions per bar. 4.4.5 Performance. Ignite one.bar
