14、ce are submitted, the Government reserves the right to check test such items to determine the validity of the certification. 4.2 First article inspection The first article submitted in accordance with 3.2 shall be inspected as specified in 4.3.3 for compliance with design, construction, workmanship
15、and dimensional requirements; 4.3 Inspection Inspection shall be performed in accordance with MIL-STD-105, except. where otherwise indicated herein. 4.3.1 Component and material inspection In accordance with 4.1 above, com- -ponents and materials shall be inspected and tested in accordance with the
16、requirements of referenced specifications, drawings, and standards unless otherwise excluded, amended, modified, or qualified in this specification or applicable purchase document. Tn addition, the materials.listed in Table 1I.shall be tested for the characteristics specified and in accordance with
17、the referenced testmethods. The values specified in Section 3, except where otherwise specified, apply to the average of the determinations made on the sample unit for test purposes as specified in the applicable test methods. All test reports shall contain the individual values utilized in.expressi

39、ble to remove the clutch fastener from its prong except by depressing the release wings. 4.5.2 Stability of soldered jints The sample of the insignia to be tested .-shall be placed. in an oven maintained at 1065 P. (+ 5F) for not less than 15 minutes. While at the specified temperature, the-insignia
40、 shall be lifted by the smaller of the soldered parts and the soldered area shall be examined for evidence of separation of the parts. *4.5.3 Stability f elecfronically fused joints Item to be tested shall be anchored on a horizontal surface. All prongs on each end item shall be grasped at least 1/3
41、 its length above the fused joint and bent thru an angle of 90 degrees (45 degrees to each side of the vertical) until separation occurs. The fused joint shall then be examined to determine compliance with 3.6.3. A bending tool in the form of 45 degrees template may be used for this test provided th
42、e prong is gripped at least 1p3 its length above the fused joint. *4.5.4.Tst for baked en-el Draw a knife edge across the face side of the specimen making four parallel scores one sixteenth inch apart. Repeat thls process drawing the knife edge this time perpendicular to the previously scored lines,

PACKAGING 11 Licensed by Information Handling Services5.1 Preservation-packaging Packaging shall be level A or C as specified (see 6.2). *5.1.1 Level A A single or pir of insdgnia shall be mounted on a whi
44、te sulfite card with the clutch fasteners attached. . The card shall be cut 2 4 inches square and have a ginimum thickness of 0.011 inch, The mounted Insignia shall be individually packaged in a snug-fitting transparent polye- thylene bag having a minimum thickness of 0.002 inch. All seams and closu
45、res shall be effected by heat sealing. Prior to.or during the heat sealing operation, excess air within the bag shall be expelled. Fifty units thus packaged, of one type and class only, shall be placed, with the insignia face to face, in a paperboard intermediate container 7 inches long, 5 5/8 inche
46、s wide, and 2 1/2 inches high, outside dimensions. The container shall conform to type I, variety 1, class A, style 4 of PPP-B-676. 5.1.2 Level C (Commercial packaging) Insignia shall be packaged to afford adequate protection against physical damage during shipment from the supply source to the firs
47、t receiving activity. The package and quantity. per package shall be the same as that normally used by the contractor for retail distribu- tion. I 5.2 Packing Packing shall be level A, B, or C as specified Csee 6.2) 5.2.1 Level A Twelve intermediate containers, containing one type and one class of i
48、nsignia only and packaged as specified in 5.1, shall be packed in a fiberboard shipping container assembled, closed and reinforced conforming to type SF, class weather-resistant, grade Ys, size 1 of HIC-B-17757. Toward the end of the contract, or when there is less rhan?the required amount per conta
49、iner of the same type and class, mixed classes may be packed within the same container. 5.2.2 Level B Twelve.intemediate containers, containing one type and one class of insignia only and packaged as specified in 5.1, shall be packed in a fiberboard shipping container assembled and closed confdrming to type CF, class domestic, grade 275,- size 1 of MX-B-17757, Toward the end of the contract, or when there is less than the required amount per container of the same type and class, mixed cPasses may be packed in the same container
