This commercial item description covers an adult size, training doll suitabl
2、e for demonstration and practice of nursing techniques. Salient characteristics. General. The form, with ma with urethral doll shall be in a natural adult size and le torso and genitals, and shall be equipped and rectal tubes and internal tanks. The doll shall be suitable for the demonstration of ca
3、theterization, irrigation, otic douching, hypodermic injection and administration of enemas. Covering. The doll shall have a flexible skin of vinyl plastic which will not crack, peel or chip, and which shall be impervious to water and medicated solutions. Limb joints. Joints shall give natural movem
4、ents to arms and legs, and shall be constructed with heavy duty hinges. Hip and knee joints shall be designed such that, with the doll lying on its back with knees raised and spread, legs will remain fixed in position until moved. Hypodermic arm. The left arm of the doll shall be provided with a sec
5、tion which shall simulate the texture and resistance of the human upper arm. The section shall be filled with mold latex foam rubber in the shape of a cylinder and a skin of flesh colored latex on the outer surface. The cylinder shall measure 3 inches in diameter by 4 inches in length. The cylinder
6、shall fit around a 3/8 inch metal rod connecting the upper and lower sections of the upper arm form. The cylinder shall be suitable for subcutaneous, intramuscular, and intradermal injection. When the cylinder becomes saturated, it shall be easy to unsnap, squeeze dry, and snap back or reuse. - AMSC

8、e doll shall be provided with a specially designed valve, located at a functionally normal distance from the outer end of the urethral passage. The valve shall open when an inserted catheter has reached that point, and permit the fluid for catheterizing shall be supplied by an irrigator jar or reser
9、voir connected by rubber tubing fitted with a snap cutoff to a hard rubber nipple in an external abdominal cavity where the catheter- operated valve is located. Fluid shall be retained in the reservoir until the valve is opened by the insertion of the catheter into the urethral passage at the normal
10、 distance. A one gallon reservoir shall be sufficient for approximately 16 catheterizations. Bladder irrigation. The doll shall be supplied with a small flat tank. The tank shall rest on the doll and connect directly with a nipple in the external abdominal cavity. With the tank in place, it shall be
11、 possible to follow the customery technique in administering bladder irrigations. Colonic irrigations. The colonic/system shall be so designed that it shall function naturally when the doll is either on its left side or on its back. A colon tube shall be capable of being inserted 8 to 12 inches, and
12、 shall be able to move in or out to any intermediate position. Inflow and outflow shall be controlled as in actual practice on patients. Enemas. The doll shall h-ave an enema tank of approximately one-quart capacity. The tank shall be designed such that water will run into it when the doll is on its
13、 left side and discharged normally when turned onto its back. Drainage. The doll shall have a venting system which connects with outer air for the prompt and complete drainage of all tanks. Instructions. The doll shall be provided with 2 copies of instructions for use in maintenance and repair. Work
14、manship. The doll shall be free from defects which detract from its appearance or impair its serviceability. Unit. Each (EA). Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise s
16、pecified in the contract of purchase order, the contractor may use his own or nay facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspection - set forth in the speci
17、fication where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. Records. Records of examinations and tests performed by or for the contractor shall be maintained by the contractor and made available to the Government upon the Governments reque
18、st, at any time, or from time to time, during the performance of the contract and for a period of three years after delivery of the supplies to which such records relate. Inspection. Inspection, as used herein, is defines as both examination (such as visual or auditory investigation without the use
19、of special laboratory appliances or procedures) and testing (determination by technical means of physical and chemical properties) of the item. Contractor certification. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this description and conforms to the pr
20、oducers own drawings, specification, standard, and quality assurance practices. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract. 8 Metric Products. Products manufacture
21、d to metric dimensions will be considered on an equal basis with those manufactured using inch-pound units, providing they fall within the tolerances specified using conversion tables contained in the latest revision of Federal Standard No. 376, and all other requirements of this document are met. I
22、f a product is manufactured to metric dimensions and those dimensions exceed the tolerances specified in the inch/pound units, a request should be made to the contracting officer to determine if the product is acceptable. The contracting officer has the option of accepting of rejecting the product.

If the product covered by this document has been determined by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to be under its jurisdic
24、tion, the offeror/contractor shall comply, and be responsible for compliance by its subcontractors/suppliers, with the requirements of the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act, as amended, and regulations promulgated thereunder. In addition, the offeror/contractor shall comply, and be responsible for
25、 compliance by its subcontractors/suppliers, with the requirements of all other applicable Federal, State, and local statutes, ordinances, and regulations. . Recovered materials. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered material in accordance with Public Law 94-580 to the maximum extent
26、 practical. Preservation, packaging, packing, labeling, and marking. Unless otherwise specified, preservation, packaging, and packing shall be to a degree of protection to preclude damage to containers and/or contents thereof under normal shipping conditions, handling, etc., involving shipment from
27、the supply source to the receiving activity, plus reshipment from receiving activity, and shall conform to applicable carriers rules and regulations. Intermediate and exterior package quantities and labeling and marking shall be as specified in the contract and/or order. NOTE: The following National
