6、UREMENT OF VOLTAGE JUMP For Voltage Regulator and Reference Tubes (From Standards Proposal No. 758 formulated under the cognizance of JEDEC Committee JT-12 on Gas Tubes) 1. PURPOSE The purpose of this standard is to provide a uniform method for the measurement of voltage jump in gas voltage regulato

7、r and reference tubes. 2. COPE This standard provides a definition of voltage jump and establishes a general test method including the necessary circuit constants. 3. DEFINITION Voltage Jump is an abrupt change or discontinuity in tube voltage drop when the tube current is varied. 4. TEST METHOD Vol

8、tage-regulator and voltage-reference tubes shall be tested for voltage jump by cycling the tube current between the specified minimum and maximum values for a minimum of one complete cycle. One complete cycle is a variation of the tube current between the specified minimum and maximum values in both

9、 the current-increasing and current-decreasing directions. The variation of the tube current in any one direction shall be accomplished in not less than three seconds, nor more than thirty seconds. The current sweep may be linear, exponential, or sinusoidal. The total ambient noise level of the supp

10、ly voltage and test equipment shall not be greater than 20 per cent of the maximum allowable voltage jump. 11、 IOOK Non-electrolytic capacitors shall be used. The filter shall be terminated with a resistance of one megohm, including the input resistance of the following stage or read-out device. The read-out device shall be an oscilloscope or an equiva- lent device, capable of measuring a voltage change hav

12、ing a 10-microsecond rise time. Tubes shall be preheated at the maximum specified current value for a period of not less than 15 seconds unless otherwise specified, and the test shall be continued for the specified number of cycles to determine whether the voltage jump is reproducible.* “CAUTION : 1. A voltage jump may not necessarily recur at a particular current value. 2. Switching transients may occur at each end of the current sweep and should not be confused with voltage jump.
