11、sList 17 Appendix 3 Terminals oil impregnated; extended foil electrode capacitors, hermetically sealed in metal cases, for general purpose application in power semiconductor circuits. These capacitors are intended for such uses as SCR commutating, snubbers, harmonic filters, EMI/RFI suppression, in

DEFINITIONS Effective Voltage is the voltage used to determine the effective volt-amperes. This voltage is the rms value calculated only during those portions of the

13、 total period that the voltage is changing. See Appendix 6, Page 23. 6O-Hz rms Voltage Reference is the nominal continuous 60-Hz sinewave voltage that may be applied between the capacitor terminals. This rating is primarily intended as a reference value for capacitor design and testing, but excludin

14、g temperature-rise testing. Peak Voltage Rating is the maximum voltage change (plus or minus) from zero reference applied between the capacitor terminals. Zero reference is the condition where there is no potential across the terminals of the capacitor. See Appendix 6, Page 23. Peak-Peak Voltage is

15、the maximum total change in voltage applied between the capacitor ter- minals during one repetitive cycle. See Appendix 6, Page 23. Rms Current is the root-mean-square or effective current and is the value used to determine the effective volt-amperes. See Appendix 6, Page 23. Peak Current is the max

16、imum amplitude of current which occurs repetitively in charging or discharging a capacitor. See Appendix 6, Page 23. Current Puise Width is the time of current flow in microseconds during the charge or discharge of capacitors. See Appendix 6, Page 23. Volt-Amperes is the product of the effective vol

17、tage and effective current applied to a capacitor. This value provides a means of calculating the watts loss and temperature rise of a capacitor. See Appendix 6, Page 23. Rise Time is the time in microseconds required to charge a.capacitor from 10% to 90% of the maximum change in voltage (A V) appli

18、ed between the capacitor terminals during one repetitive cycle. See Appendix 6, Page 24. 36、CTION 7.1 7.2 Dimensions shall be within the tolerances allowed. Marking shall be legible, complete and correct. 7.3 Physical appearance shall be uniform in quality and capacitors shall be free from pits, corrosion, cracks, rough edges, and other defects that will affect life, serviceability or appe

37、atance. 8. MARKING 8.1 Marking shall be permanent ink or metal stamping and shall consist of the following items: 1. Nominal capacitance in microfarads 2. Volt-ampere rating at 65OC ambient 3. Rated peak voltage 4. Name or symbol of manufacturer 5. Manufacturers part number 6. E.I.A. date code ident

38、ification 7. E.I.A. standard designation and/or U.L. paint identification where required. 9. DIELECTRIC WITHSTANDING VOLTAGE TESTS 9.1 Between terminals - Capacitors shall be capable of withstanding the application of a DC volt- age equal to 2 x rated peak voltage for one minute. Capacitors shall be

39、 charged and discharged through a 10,000 ohm resistor to limit the current. 9.2 Terminals to case - Capacitors shall be capable of withstanding the application of 2 x reference AC voltage plus 1 O00 volts AC for one minute or a DC voltage equal to 1.4 1 x this AC voltage. 10. CAPACITANCE TEST 1 O. 1

40、 Capacitance measurements shall be made on an AC bridge of 60-Hz or shall be referred to such a measurement.
