32、eoftheantipole,becausethiscaninfluencethe measurement. 3 Testspecimens Coresusedasspecimensforthicknessmeasurementsshallberepresentativeofthebituminouspavementslab fromwhichtheyaretaken.Thecoresshallbedrilledcompletelythroughthebituminouspavementslabforwhich thethicknessistobemeasured.Thecoreaxissha
33、llpreferablybewithin5ofthenormalaxistothepavement. Furthermoretheendsshallbefreefromallconditionsnottypicalofthesurfacesofthepaving.Coresthatshow defectswhichinfluencethemeasurementsorthathavebeendamagedappreciablyinthedrillingoperation(e.g. fragmentedcores,splitcoresandcurvedcores),shallnotbeused.
34、NOTE Therecommendeddiameterofthecorestakenis100mmor150mm. 4Procedure 4.1Destructive measurement 4.1.1 Thethicknessofeachcoreoreachlayershallbemeasuredtothenearest1mm.Thethicknessmeasure mentsshallbeperpendiculartotheupperplaneofthecore.Measurementsshallbebetweenupperandlower surfacesorbetweenwelldef
35、inedboundarylinesincaseswherethecoreconsistsofmorethanonelayer. 4.1.2 Fourmeasurementsshallbetakenevenlyspacedaboutthediameterofeachcore.Thepositionofthese measurementsshallbeclearlymarkedalongeachcore. 4.1.3 Whenthecoreconsistsofonelayerorwhenonlythetotalthicknessofthebituminouspavementis relevant,
