EN 12860 is a candidate “harmonized”European Standard and fully takes into account the req
4、uirements of the European Commission mandate M106 “Gypsum products”, given under the EU Construction Products Directive (89/106/EEC), and intended to lead to CE marking. The date ofapplicability of EN 12860 as a harmonized European Standard, i.e. the date after which this standard maybe used for CE
5、marking purposes, is subject to an announcement in the Oficial Journal of the European Communities. EN 12860 is the subject of transitional arrangements agreed under the European Commission mandate. The Member States have agreed a nominal transition period for the ceexistence of EN 12860 and their c
6、orresponding national standard(s). It is intended that this period will comprise a nominal nine month period during which any required changes to national regulations are to be made, followed by a further nominal twelve month period for the implementation of CE marking. At the end of this Co-existen
7、ce period, the national standard(s) will be withdrawn. In the UK, there is no corresponding national standard. The UKparticipation in the preparation ofEN 12860 was entrusted by Technical Committee B/544, Plastering, rendering, dry lining, screeds and in situ floorings, to Subcommittee B/544/1, Gyps
8、um plasters, cast gypsum and ancillaries, which has the responsibility to: - - aid enquirers to understand the text; present to the responsible European committee any enquiries on the interpretation, or proposals for change, and keep the UK interests informed; monitor related international and Europ

It covers the following performance characteristics related t
27、o the essential requirements : - reaction to fire : - release of dangerous substances ; measured according to the corresponding European test methods. It defines the reference tests for technical specifications. It provides for the evaluation of conformity of the product to this European Standard. T
28、his European Standard covers also additional technical characteristics that are of importance for the use and acceptance of the product by the Building Industry : - direct airborne sound insulation ; - bond strength ; - thermal resistance calculated with thermal conductivity values from the Table 1

36、librium at 23 “C and 50 % relative humidity in Watts per metre per Kelvin (W/m.K). 5 Requirements 5.1 Fire behaviour 5.1.1 Reaction to fire Gypsum based adhesives for gypsum blocks are classified in Euroclass AI (no contribution to fire) without testing when they contain less than 1 % by weight or v
37、olume (whichever is the more onerous) of organic material. If the products contain more than 1 % by weight or volume of organic material, they shall be determined and classified in accordance with prEN 13501-1 : 2000. 5.1.2 Fire resistance Gypsum based adhesives (a mixture of calcium sulphate and ad
38、ditives in small quantities) for gypsum blocks do not modify the fire resistance of the work in which it is used. 5.2 Direct airborne sound insulation When relevant, the direct airborne sound insulation of partitions or wall linings assembled using gypsum based adhesives shall be determined accordin
39、g to EN IS0 140-3 and EN IS0 717-1. 5.3 Thermal properties 5.3.1 Thermal resistance When required, the thermal resistance of elements of construction is calculated using the formula given in EN IS0 6946. For adhesives, the values of thermal conductivity necessary for this calculation are given in 5.
40、3.2. 5.3.2 Thermal conductivity Design values of the thermal conductivity of gypsum plaster used in the manufacture of gypsum based adhesives are given in Table 1. The reference values concern dry material used inside. When the material is wet, adjust these values using EN IS0 10456. 5.4 Re
42、lease of dangerous substances NOTE For CE marking purposes, see Annex ZA. 5.5 Maximum particle size The residue on a 200 ym sieve shall not be greater than 10 % by weight when determined in accordance with 3.2 of prEN 13279-2 : 1998. No residue shall be left on a 400 ym sieve. 5.6 Sulphur trioxide (
43、SOs) content The SO, content of the powder shall not be less than 30 % when tested in accordance with 3.3 of prEN 13279-2 : 1998. 5.7 Initial setting time The initial setting time shall be determined in accordance with 4.2 of prEN 13279-2 : 1998. The initial setting time shall be greater than 45 min
44、. 5.8 Bond strength The bond strength of the adhesive, when determined as described in 6.7, shall be such that failure occurs in the gypsum block, in at least three of the four tests. 5.9 pH The pH of the product after hydration, when determined in accordance with 6.8 shall be : 6,5 2 pH 2 10,5. 45、e 8 EN 12860:2001 6 Test methods 6.1 General General conditions of tests as well as test methods which are common to gypsum plasters and gypsum based adhesives are described in prEN 13279-2:1998. The water used for the reference tests and chemical analysis shall be deionised or distilled, boiled and
46、 coolded. 6.2 Determination of particle size The test method is described in 3.2 of prEN 13279-2 : 1998. 6.3 Determination of the sulphur trioxide content The test method is described in 3.3 of prEN 13279-2 : 1998. 6.4 Determination of the water/product ratio The test method is described in 4.1 of p
47、rEN 13279-2 : 1998. 6.5 Preparation of the adhesive for testing The adhesive used for the tests and for the preparation of test pieces shall be prepared as described in 4.1.3 of prEN 13279-2 : 1998, using the water/product ratio determined by the test. 6.6 Determination of the initial setting time T
48、he test method is described in 4.2 of prEN 13279-2 : 1998. 6.7 Determination of the bond strength 6.7.1 Principle The bond strength is determined from the position of the failure of the gypsum based adhesive/gypsum block assembly when subjected to tensile stress. 6.7.2 Apparatus a) A ring (in non re
49、active material) of diameter 50 mm and height 5 mm ; b) a metal disc with central connection to receive traction clamp (pull head) (50 mm x 20 mm) ; c) a traction device having a self centring clamp to apply a convenient tensile force ; d) e) f) a dynamometer for determining the tensile strength with a capacity of 250 daN (e.g. see figure 2); a quick setting epoxy adhesive ; a gypsum block (according to prEN 12859 : 2000 with a thickness 50 mm : - either with a medium density - or of hardness 55 shore C units.
