17、e of Its%; c) a means of measuring the vertical deflection of the shank at the point where the force is applied to an accuracy of *,o25 mm. 4.2 A laboratory timer or similar with an accuracy 4.3 Callipers and/or a stainless steel rule with an of *,l s. accuracy of 10,5 mm. 18、g and conditioning The test specimen shall be a complete shank. At least three specimens of each type of shank shall be tk%ed. Test specimens shall be conditioned for 48 h in a contmlied atmosphere in accordance with EN 12222 prior to testing. Tests shall be carried out in a suitable conditioned atm

19、osphere in accordance with EN 12222. Where this is not possible tests shall be carried out within 16 min of removing the test specimen from the conditioned atmosphere. 6 Test method 6.1 The shank is clamped at its heel end and bent as a cantiiever beam by masses aded at its forward end. The amount o

20、f bending is measured and usec to calculate the fled rigidity of the shank, a quantiiy which is a measure of stiffness and which is dependent on the metal of the shank and its crosssection but not on its length. 6.2 With the underside of the shank uppermost (normaiiy the fluted side), insert the hee

21、l end centrally in its clamp (see 4.la) so that 32 mm of shank are clamped, with the end of the shank flush with the back of the clamp and the longitudinal axis of the shank perpendicular to the clamp edge. lighten the clamp rmly to secureiy hold the shank 6.3 Aaust the angle of the clamp so that th

22、e point of loading at the forward end of the shank is horizontal. 6.4 Place the displacement measuring device (see 4.lb) in position and adjust as necem. 6.6 Smoothly apply a downward force of 2 N to the forward end of the shank with the centre of the load point bei about 6 mm fi-om the end of the s

23、hank NOTE For shanks for high heeled shoes, a point about 11 mm from the end of the shank may be used. 6.6 After 5 s measure the vertical deflection of the shank (see 4.1) at the point of loading, al, to the nearest 0,Ol mm. 6.7 Remove the force and replace it with the force of 4 N so that the time

24、intemal between the application of the frst and second force is 10 s. 6.8 After 5 s measure the deflection, a2, as in 6.3. 6.9 Repeat the procedure in 6.7 and 6.8 for forces of 6 N and 8 N giving defiection measurements a3, and q, respectively. Check the correctness of these readings by checking tha

25、t u4 - a3, a3 - ap, and a2 - al, are approximately equal. 6.10 Remove the force from the shank and measure in mm the moment length of the shank from the front edge of the clamp to the centre point of the force application using the device described in 4.3. 6.11 Test two other shanks as described in

S=- 3a where W is the load (in newtons); a is the deflection produced

27、 (in miiiimetres); L is the moment length (i miimetres). Calculate the flexural rigidity of the shank from the experimentally determined values of H( a and L by substitution in the above equation. Take Was being 2 N and obtain the most accurate estimate of the corresponding value of a from the follo

28、wing equation: 1 10 a =- (3a4 +a3 - a2 - 3al) where a is the deflection (in millimetres) produced per 2 N gravitational force; a4 is the deflection (in millimetres) produced by applying a 8 N force; a3 is the deflection (in millimetres) produced by applying a 6 N force; a2 is the deflection (in mill

29、imetres) produced by applying a 4 N force; al is the deflection (in millimetres) produced by applying a 2 N force. 8 lkst report The test report shall include the following information: a) results, expressed in accordance with clause 7 b) reference to this test method, c) full description of the sha

30、nk samples tested including commercial styles codes; colom, nature, etc.; d) the number of test specimens if other than three; e) any deviations from this standard test method f) date of testing. 7.2 Calculate the values for S (in kilonewtons per square millimetre) for the three shanks separately an

31、d take the average. Record the result to the nearest kilonewtons per square millimetre.
