、the United Kingdom. BS EN 13402-3:2017EN 13402-3:2017 (E) 4 Introduction Currently, across Europe, several different systems are used for the size designation and labelling of clothes. This is confusing for consumers and creates inefficiencies across the supply chain. The objective intention is to h

、armonize and simplify the size labelling of clothes for the benefit of consumers and the industry generally. In order to size mass-produced clothes, the body size of the intended wearer needs to be defined and identified. In order to communicate the size of a garment clearly and visibly, a pictogram

、 is used together with body size ranges of the intended wearer. Within this document, the values and intervals are provided for reference purposes as examples of best practice and have been adjusted taking into account the latest sizing surveys carried out in Belgium, France, Germany, Netherlands, R

BS EN 13402-3:2017EN 13402-3:2017 (E) 5 1 Scope This European Standard describes a flexible sizing system based on body dimensions and the related size labelling information for consumers, by the use of a standard pictogram. Examples of labelling clothing with the standard

、pictogram (see EN 13402-1) are given in Clause 5 in this document. Examples of tables for body measurements and intervals are given in Annex A (informative) to be used for compiling garment sizes for men, women, boys, girls and infants. Garment dimensions are not contained in this document. 2 Normat

In addition, the secondary dimensions (see EN 13402-2) are given with the possibilities

、 for a country/company to apply when needed. The possibilities are shown in the tables horizontally for each primary dimension value and vertically for each secondary dimension value. The link between the primary and secondary dimensions is flexible in order to cover different target groups or speci

、fic morphological features of countries. Examples of measurements and intervals are given in the tables in Annex A (informative) in this document. Examples of pictograms to be used for labelling clothing (see EN 13402-1) are shown in Clause 5. 4.2 Intervals Intervals listed in the tables of Annex A

、define the differences between two adjoining body measurements. 4.3 Range Range is calculated by using one half plus or half minus the interval from the primary or secondary dimension measurement. If the interval is 1,5 cm or less no range will be shown in the pictogram. Note for odd numbers a gap b

、etween ranges can occur if whole numbers are used. If the interval is less than 2 cm no range will be shown in the pictogram, only the centre of the range will be shown. 4.4 Combination between primary and secondary dimensions The flexibility of the standard sizing system allows each country/company

、 freely to combine different body dimensions according to its requirements. To achieve flexibility, between the primary and secondary dimensions, examples of alternatives are defined in Annex A. Companies create the pictogram from their own body measurement tables (see example tables in the Annex A). The information of size shall be provided at the point of sales with the standard pictogram or similar graphic image. Information related to the range(s) of body dimension(s) has to be provided.
