EN 14290:2004 (E) 4 1 Scope This document specifies the requirements for the properties and condition of a specific range of tradeable secondary raw materials with a predominant zinc content. This document defines th

20、ese materials uniformly at the European level so that they can be traded within the economic cycle as raw materials with product character and their recycling is carried out specific to the material. 2 Normative references The following referenced document is indispensable for the application of thi

21、s document. For dated references, only the edition cited applies. For undated references, the latest edition of the referenced document (including any amendments) applies. EN 12844, Zinc and zinc alloys Castings Specifications. 3 Terms and definitions For the purposes of this document, the following

22、 terms and definitions apply: 3.1 groups of secondary raw materials 3.1.1 metallic scrap 3.1.1.1 new zinc and zinc alloy scrap zinc and zinc alloy new or unused such as rejected parts, stampings and/or other by-products from processing 3.1.1.2 old zinc and zinc alloy scrap zinc and zinc alloy-based

23、used or end of life material with or without foreign attachments and/or foreign materials 3.1.2 Drosses and skimmings 3.1.2.1 drosses by-products from melting and/or galvanizing operations consisting of mainly metallic materials predominantly of zinc and iron 3.1.2.2 skimmings by-products from melti

24、ng and/or galvanizing operations consisting of a mixture of predominantly zinc and zinc ox- ide, untreated or treated 3.2 foreign materials material, other than as specified in this standard, whether metallic or non-metallic including free iron EN 14290:2004 (E) 5 3.3 coated, plated or enamelled mat

28、rature up to 500 C 4 Designation The product designation provides a standardized pattern of designation from which a rapid and unequivocal description of a product is conveyed in communication. It provides mutual comprehension at the international level with regard to products which meet the require

29、ments of the relevant document. The product designation is no substitute for the full content of the standard. The product designation for products to this standard shall consist of: denomination (Secondary raw material); number of this document (EN 14290); material type (see annexes A and B). EN 14

30、290:2004 (E) 6 The derivation of a product designation is shown in the following example. EXAMPLE Secondary raw material conforming to this standard, material type S-ZnA.1.1, shall be designated as follows: Secondary raw material EN 14290 S-ZnA.1.1 Denomination Number of this document Material type

31、5 Ordering information In order to facilitate the enquiry, order and confirmation of order procedures between the purchaser and the supplier, the purchaser shall state on his enquiry and order the following information: a) quantity of material required (mass); b) denomination (Secondary raw material

32、); c) number of this document (EN 14290); d) material type (see annexes A and B). NOTE It is recommended that the product designation, as described in clause 4, is used for items b) to d). In addition, the purchaser shall also state on the enquiry and order any of the following, if required: e) form

33、 of packaging. EXAMPLE Ordering details for 20 t secondary raw material conforming to EN 14290, material type S-ZnA.1.1: 20 t Secondary raw material EN 14290 S-ZnA.1.1 6 Requirements 6.1 Characteristics, condition, zinc content, moisture The characteristics, condition, zinc content, moisture shall c

34、onform to the requirements for the appropriate material given in annexes A and B. 6.2 Composition The compositions given in annexes A and B refer to the analytical results obtained, using appropriate documents or other methods by agreement, from a representative sample taken from an inspection lot.

35、6.3 Additional requirements If not otherwise specified in annexes A and B, the following applies: The secondary raw material shall not contain: mica, asbestos, plastic, rubber, paper impregnated with oil, oil, grease; materials being recognized as substances that deplete the ozone layer of the earth

36、; explosive materials. No radioactively contaminated secondary raw material or radioactively contaminated substances adhering to the secondary raw material or mixed with the secondary raw material shall be accepted. EN 14290:2004 (E) 7 7 Inspection of incoming material 7.1 General The inspection sch

37、eme given in Figure 1 shall be applied. The test procedures shall be carried out on representative samples. For expression of results, the rounding rules given in 7.4 shall be used. In case of dispute with respect to sampling or testing methods or their results, arbitration shall be agreed between t

38、he purchaser and the supplier. EN 14290:2004 (E) 8 EN 14290:2004 (E) 9 7.2 Test procedures The test procedures given in Table 1 shall be used as appropriate. Table 1 Test procedures Characteristic Test procedure Moisture Estimation Weighing before and after removal of the moisture from a representat

39、ive sample Removal of the moisture shall be achieved by heating to a maximum temperature of 110 C until no more weight changes are detected. Free iron Estimation Presorting and weighing Other methods subject to agreement between the purchaser and the supplier. Composition Quantitative analysis metho

40、ds according to EN-standards or subject to agreement between the purchaser and the supplier. Size Measurement Zinc content Estimation Determination of the content of moisture and foreign substances in a representative sample using methods subject to agreement between the purchaser and the supplier.

41、Metal yield Estimation Determination of the content of moisture and free iron in a representative sample followed by remelting and weighing of the ingot. The remelting shall be performed in a furnace, with a temperature up to 500 C, using flux if necessary. Foreign materials Estimation Sorting and w

42、eighing Other methods subject to agreement between the purchaser and the supplier. 7.3 Retests If there is a failure of one, or more than one, of the tests in Table 1, two representative samples from the same inspection lot shall be permitted to be selected for retesting the failed characteristic(s)

43、 except in the case of determination of the amount of moisture. If the test samples from both representative samples pass the appropriate test procedure, then the inspection lot represented shall be deemed to conform to the particular characteristic of this standard. If a test sample fails a test pr

44、ocedure, the inspection lot represented shall be deemed not to conform to this standard. EN 14290:2004 (E) 10 7.4 Rounding of results For the purpose of determining conformity to the compositional limits specified in this standard, a value obtained from a test procedure shall be rounded in accordanc

45、e with the following procedure which is based upon the guidance given in annex B of ISO 31-0 : 1992. It shall be rounded in one step to the same number of figures used to express the specified limit in this standard. The following rules shall be used for rounding: a) if the figure immediately after

46、the last figure to be retained is less than 5, the last figure to be retained shall be kept unchanged; b) if the figure immediately after the last figure to be retained is equal to or greater than 5, the last figure to be retained shall be increased by one. 8 Packaging Any form of packaging shall be

47、 agreed between the purchaser and the supplier. EN 14290:2004 (E) 11 Annex A (normative) Metallic scrap A.1 New zinc and zinc alloy scrap A.1.1 New zinc scrap (Type S-ZnA.1.1) A.1.1.1 Characteristics Material consisting of any new zinc sheet or stampings. A.1.1.2 Condition The material shall not con

48、tain moisture, foreign materials and attachments. It shall not be corroded. A.1.1.3 Composition The zinc content of the material shall be min. 98 %. A.1.2 New zinc alloy scrap (Type S-ZnA.1.2) A.1.2.1 Characteristics Material consisting of new or unused uncoated zinc-based cast material, such as rejected parts, feeders, runners, sprues etc. A.1.2.2 Condition The material shall not contain moisture, foreign material and attachments. It shall be unpainted, unplated or uncoated, and not corroded. A.1.2.3 Composition The composition of the mat
