ThepopulationofEuropeisageingandtheprevalenceofdisabil

26、ity,includingdisabilityassociatedwiththeageing process,isincreasing.Olderpeopleandpeoplewithdisabilitiesatpresentareestimatedtonumbersome80 millionpeoplealargeandgrowingproportionoftheEuropeanUnionpopulation.Thechangingdemography presentsbothopportunitiesandchallengesfortheUnion.Theeconomic,socialan

27、dculturalpotentialofolder peopleandpeoplewithdisabilitiesisunderexploitedatpresent.Howeverthereisagrowingrecognitionthatsociety needstoexploitthispotentialfortheeconomicandsocialbenefitofsocietygenerally. Theworkhasledtothisstandardontheaccessibilitytoliftsforpersons,includingpersonswithdisability.

28、GeneralinformationonaccessibilityisgiveninannexA; c) thisstandarddoesnotonlyaddresstheessentialsafetyrequirementsoftheLiftDirective,butadditionally statesminimumrulesfortheaccessibilitytoliftsforpersonsincludingpersonswithdisability.Theremaybein somecountriesregulationsforthelevelofsuitabilityoflift
