15、s Part 4-2 of EN 50289 details the method of test to determine the ability of a cable used in analogue and digital communication systems to block water migration along a specified length. This test applies to water-blocked cables. It is to be read in conjunction with Part 4-1 of EN 50289, which cont

16、ains essential provisions for its application. 2 Normative references This European Standard incorporates by dated or undated reference, provisions from other publications. 18、ication cables - Specifications for test methods Part 4-1 : Environmental test methods - General requirements Communication cables - Part 1-2: Definitions EN 50290-1-21) 3 Definitions For the purposes of this European Standard, the definitions of EN 50290-1-2 apply. 4 Test methods Compliance shall b

19、e checked on samples of cable using one of the two following methods (A or B), as stated in the detail specification. Method A tests for water migration between the outer interstices of the core and the outer sheath, whilst method B tests for water migration over the entire cross-section designed to

20、 be water-blocked. 4.1 Sample 4.1.1 Method A A circumferential portion of sheath and wrapping 25 mm wide shall be removed 3 m from one end of a sample length of cable and a watertight sleeve shall be applied over the exposed core so as to bridge the gap in the sheath, and allow a 1 m height of water

21、 to be applied. 4.1.2 Method B A cable sample having a length 1 m longer than the length to be tested, which shall not exceed 3 m. If required, the sample is submitted to the bending procedure. A maximum cable length of 3 m shall then be taken from the central portion of the sample. A watertight sea

22、l shall be applied to one end of the sample to allow a 1 m height of water to be applied. NOTE application of the seal. 23、arrangements are shown in Figure 1 4.3 Procedure Unless otherwise specified in the detail specification, the sample shall be supported horizontally and a 1 m height of water shall be applied for 24 h at a temperature of (20 15) OC. A water soluble fluorescent dye or other suitable colourant may be u

24、sed to aid in the detection of water seepage. Care should be taken in choosing a fluorescent dye that does not react with any of the cable components. 4.4 Req u i remen ts No water shall be detected at the unsealed end of the sample. If a fluorescent dye is used, an ultraviolet light may be used for

25、 the examination. NOTE The test procedure mentioned above is a basic compliance requirement and for routine tests, samples of shorter length may be tested for a shorter time. 4.5 Details to be specified The detail specification shall include : a) b) c) method used and cross-section tested, bending p
