Polarity 9.1 Balanced circuits The positive terminal of a transducer (see I E C Publication 268-2: Sound System Equipment. Part 2: Explanation of General Terms) shall be connected to Contact No. 1 (tip), and this polarity
23、 convention shall apply to all connectors of the types covered by sections 1 and 2 of this standard. Contact No. 2 (sleeve) shall be earthy in all applications. The negative terminal of the transducer shall be connected to Contact No. 3 (ring). 9.2 Single unbalanced circuits The signal shall be conn

This convention requires a patch-cord with crossed connections between Contacts 1 and 3 (so-called “red cord”), the use of which is sometimes undesirable. If cross-connect
27、ed cords are not in use, the above connections shall be used on mixing desks and similar equipment, while filters and other peripheral equipment shall have the connections to Contacts 1 and 3 reversed.
