14、dom.EN 60335-2-8:2003 - 2 - Foreword The text of document 61/2200/FDIS, future fifth edition of IEC 60335-2-8, prepared by the IEC Technical Committee 61, was submitted to the IEC-CENELEC parallel vote. As a result of the Kista meeting of CENELEC TC 61 in May 2002, a draft amendment prAA containing
15、the relevant existing common modifications was submitted to the formal vote. The texts of the FDIS and the prAA were approved by CENELEC as a new edition of EN 60335-2-8 on 2003-03-01. This European Standard replaces EN 60335-2-8:1995 + A1:2001. The following dates are applicable: - latest date by w

This standard recogni
35、zes the internationally accepted level of protection against hazards such as electrical, mechanical, thermal, fire and radiation of appliances when operated as in normal use taking into account the manufacturers instructions.situations that can be expected in practice and takes into account the way
36、in which electro- This standard takes into account the requirements of IEC 60364 as far as possible so that there is compatibility with the wiring rules when the appliance is connected to the supply mains. However, national wiring rules may differ. If an appliance within the scope of this standard a
37、lso incorporates functions that are covered by another part 2 of IEC 60335, the relevant part 2 is applied to each function separately, as far as is reasonable. If applicable, the influence of one function on the other is taken into account. An appliance that complies with the text of this standard
38、will not necessarily be considered to comply with the safety principles of the standard if, when examined and tested, it is found to have other features that impair the level of safety covered by these requirements. An appliance employing materials or having forms of construction differing from thos
39、e detailed in the requirements of this standard may be examined and tested according to the intent of the requirements and, if found to be substantially equivalent, may be considered to comply with the standard. An investigation by CENELEC TC 61 has shown that all risks from products within the scop
40、e of this standard are fully covered by Low Voltage Directive, 73/23/EEC. For products having mechanical moving parts, a risk assessment in accordance with the Machinery Directive, 98/37/EC, has shown that the risks are mainly of electrical origin and consequently this directive is not applicable. 41、owever, the relevant essential safety requirements of the Machinery Directive are covered by this standard together with the principal objectives of the Low Voltage Directive. This International Standard deals with the safety of electric shavers, hair clippers and similar appliances intended for household and similar purposes, their rated voltage being not mor
47、e than 250 V. NOTE 101 Examples of similar appliances are those used for manicure and pedicure. Appliances not intended for normal household use, but which nevertheless may be a source of danger to the public, such as appliances intended to be used by laymen in shops and on farms, are within the sco
48、pe of this standard. NOTE 102 Examples of such appliances are animal clippers, animal shearers and appliances for hairdressers. As far as is practicable, this standard deals with the common hazards presented by appliances that are encountered by all persons in and around the home. However, in genera
49、l, it does not take into account NOTE 103 Attention is drawn to the fact that for appliances intended to be used in vehicles or on board ships or aircraft, additional requirements may be necessary; in many countries additional requirements are specified by national health authorities, national authorities responsible for the protection of labour and similar authorities.
