Implementation choices in data link layer

Certain of those choices and parameter values must be made visible to t

They are: - negotiated priority level: - negotiated protocol class; the visibility of this parameter to the user of Transport Service is not mandatory in this profile, but only optional. 12、cedures shall be as described in IS0 8073. The End System shall meet the requirements of the transportslayer for group TB as defined in ISOIIEC ISP 10609-1 and the complementary requirements listed below. These additional requirements may possibly modify some clauses of ISO/IEC tSP 10609. 6.1.1 Prot
、ocol classes As described in ISO/IEC ISP 10609-1, clause 1 and subclause 5.2, the transport protocol classes to be implemented in End Systems are O, 2 and 4. 6.1.2 Negotiation of protocol classes a) If the End System is initiator of the Transport Connection (TC), then: - if the TC is established on
、a Network Connection (NC) on which no other TC existed before, then the “preferred class“ shall be the class 4 and the “alternative class“ shalt be class number O; - if the TC is established on a NC on which previously another TC existed, then the “preferred class“ shall be class 4 and, as specified
、 in IS0 8073, the “alternative class“ shall be class 2. b) If the End System responds to a TC request, then the chosen class shall be the more performant one) among the valid classes in the IS0 8073 sense (see clause 6.5.4 and table 3 of IS0 8073). ) Class 4 is mare performant than class 2 and class
、 2 is more performant than class O. Page 10 EN 60870-6-601 : 1995 6.1.3 Checksum The use or non-use of the checksum as negotiated in TPDUs CR (Connection request) and CC (Connection Confirm) shall be configurable in the Reference End System. In this standard, the use of the checksum is recommended.
、6.1.4 Splitting The non-use of splitting shall be possible. 6.1.5 Priority management The priority is one of the Quality Of Service (QOS) parameters, defined in IS0 8072, paragraph 10.1 O. It has to be negotiated as in IS0 8073, paragraph 6.5.4. The coding of the various levels of priority shall be
、in conformity with IS0 8073 (paragraph 13.3.4, item n) retaining only four levels, the values of which are: - low priority: 14 (O000 O000 O000 1 1 1 O), - average priority: 10 (O000 O000 O000 lolo), - very high priority: O (O000 O000 O000 0000). - high priority: 5 (O000 O000 O000 OlOl), On reception
、, a value over 1 O must be interpreted as a low priority; a value from 6 to 1 O as an average priority; and a value from 1 to 5 as a high priority. The case where the priority parameter has not been transmitted is interpreted as a priority implicitly agreed on and locally pre-configured within the c
、ommunications systems, or, lacking a preconfiguration, as a low priority. Some modifications of ISOIIEC ISP 10609-1 are imposed by this use of priority parameter: - in table A.2.3.3, column “status“ of the “Profile Features“ table: 0 index 12 CR 15: the status of the Priority parameter becomes “m“;
、index 12 CC 14: the status of the Priority parameter becomes “m“; - in table A.2.3.4, column “status“ of the “Profile Features“ table: index 14 CR 15: the status of the Priority parameter becomes “m“; index 14 CC 14: the status of the Priority parameter becomes “m“. 6.2 Network Layer The OS1 Network
、 Service shall be provided as described in IS0 8878 (excluding annex A). The protocol used is X.25 as described in IS0 8208 for End Systems. The End System shall meet the requirements of the Network Layer as defined in ISO/IEC ISP 10609-9. clauses 5 and A.2 and the complementary requirements listed
、below. CENELEC ENmb0870-6- 603 95 3404583 0358906 TIT Page 11 EN 60870-6-601 : 1995 6.2.1 Addressing scheme This FP adds no restriction on the addressing scheme. Every addressing scheme which conforms to IS0 8348 shall be supported. The principles of Network layer addressing, the semantics, abstract
、 syntax and preferred encodings for NSAP address are defined in IS0 8348. The DSP part of the NSAP address (see IS0 8348) shall be coded according to the binary abstract syntax. The calling, called and responding NSAP addresses need to be conveyed by the X.25 call set-up and clear packets as require
、d by the OS1 Network Service definition. Encoding of the NSAP addresses in the address and address extension fields is as specified in IS0 8878. 6.2.2 Priority management The Priority is one of the Quality Of Service parameters. The Network Service shall offer the visibility of the sub-parameter “pr
、iority of the data“ in the priority parameter, in conformity with IS0 8348. The negotiation of this parameter shall be done in conformity with 12.2.7 of IS0 8348. The target value is the specified one coming from the Transport Layer. The lowest quality acceptable value is: “unspecified“. It shall be
、 interpreted as a priority implicitly agreed on and locally pre-configured within the communications systems, or, lacking a preconfiguration, as a low priority. The mapping of the priority parameter defined in IS0 8348 into X.25 corresponding fields shall be done in conformity with IS0 8878/Add. 1.
、The four levels of priority are coded as specified in 15.3.2.5 of IS0 8208. - low priority: o (O000 O000 O000 OOOO), - average priority: 5 (O000 O000 O000 OlOl), - high priority: 10 (O000 O000 O000 lOlO), - very high priority: 14 (O000 O000 O000 11 10). On reception. a value lower or equal to 4 must
、 be interpreted as a low priority; a value from 5 to 9 as an average priority; and a value from 10 to 13 as a high priority. Some modifications of ISOIIEC SP 10609-9 are imposed by this use of priority parameter (see A.2.1 of ISO/IEC ISP 10609-9). CENELEC EN*b0870-5- 601 95 m 3404583 0158907 956 Ed8
