Hand-held electric motor-operated circular s

、aws that can be mounted on a support for use as fixed tools, without any fundamental alterations of the circular saw itself, are within the scope of this standard. Circular saw attachments and cut-off discs are not covered by this standard. The object of this standard is to state and define the prin

This standard does not deal with safety requirements nor does it prescribe limits of accep- tance for performance. Safety requirements for

、 20 OC f 5 OC according to IEC 160. 4.2.2 Voltage and frequency The measurements shall be carried out at rated voltage with a tolerance of I1 % and, if applicable, at rated frequency. Saws designed for d.c. only shall be measured with d.c. Saws designed for a.c. and d.c. shall be measured with a.c.

、Saws not marked with rated frequency shall be measured either at 50 Hz or at 60 Hz according to usage in the country where the machine is employed. For saws with a rated voltage range, the measurements shall be carried out at the mean value of the voltage range if the difference between the limits o

、f the range does not exceed 10 Oh of the mean value of the voltage range. If the difference between the limits exceeds 10 % of the mean value, the measurements shall be carried out at both the upper and the lower limit of the range. NOTE - If the rated voltage or the mear; of the voltage range diffe

、rs from the nominal voltage system of the country concerned where the saw is to be used, measurements carried out at rated voltage or the mean of the voltage range may be misleading for the consumer. In this case additional measurements may be necessary. If the test voltage differs from the rated vo

、ltage, this shall be reported. Page 7 EN 61176 : 1993 4.2.3 Number of samples In order to prevent determination of the performance of a saw from a sample having variations, the following measurements shall be carried out on two samples: - input under no load condition: - speed under load that gives

、rated input. NOTES 1 remaining measurements. 2 If the values measured are within 5 % of the mean value, one of the samples can be used for the An additional sample may be used for the life test. 4.2.4 Rated input The measurements shall be carried out at rated input with a tolerance of I1 YO. 4.2.5 R

、elative humidity This shall be maintained within 45 % and 75 %. 5 Methods of measurement 5.1 No load speed The no load speed is determined after the saw fitted with an imitation blade, has been operating idle for 15 min (disconnected from any connecting device with the brake). NOTE - A deviation of

、215 96 on rated no load speed can be expected between the various samples. 5.2 Loaded speed The loaded speed is determined after the saw has been operating for 30 min at rated voltage, and with the load that gives rated input. NOTE - A deviation of 510 % on loaded speed can be expected between the v

、arious samples. 5.3 Output Loaded speeds and torques are measured at rated input. Output is calculated according to the formula: pout= 7 211n xT where n T pou, is the loaded speed in revolutions per minute (revlmin) is the torque in newton-meter (N.m) is the output in watts (W) Page 8 EN 61176 : 199

、3 3404583 0087828 432 . 5.4 Efficiency The efficiency is calculated according to the formula: q= - pout x 100 Pin where Pi“ pout ti is the input in watts (W) is the output in watts (W) is the efficiency in per cent (%). 5.5 Dimensions Length, width and height are measured in millimetres. These dimen

、sions are measured for minimum cutting depth and straight cut in the resting position (guard in closed position). They exclude the flexible cord, plug and cord protector Measurements are made parallel and perpendicular to the spindle axis and the guide plate as shown in figure 1. 5.6 Cutting depth T

、he cutting depth is measured from the bottom of the guide plate to the tangent to the outside circumference of the imitation blade parallel to the guide plate. The maximum and minimum cutting depths are measured for straight cut and for the maximum inclination angle of the blade. 5.7 Cutting accurac

、y 5.7.1 Parallelism between the guide plate edge and the plane of the saw blade is measured by fitting the imitation blade and measuring the angle 01 between the edge of the guide plate and this blade, as shown in figure 2, with the blade rotated to give maximum angle. 5.7.2 Axial run-out is checked

、 by measuring the total deviation on the imitation blade for 360“ rotation of the blade, as shown in figure 3, for any possible position of the inner flange. The measurement is made 5 mm from the edge of the disc. 5.7.3 Accuracy of the indication of cutting angle by the index is checked by comparing

、 the value of the index indicator with the angle obtained with a cut into a piece of wood maximum 10 mm thinner than the indicated depth, as shown in figure 4. This test shall be carried out at angles of O“, 30, 45“ and at the maximum cutting angle. 5.7.4 When the depth index forms a part of the saw

、, accuracy of indication of depth is checked by comparing the index indication with a blind cut into a piece of wood thicker than the indicated depth. - - 3409583 0087827 377 Page 9 EN 61176 : 1993 5.7.5 Accuracy of the blade position indicator. 42、ided by the edge of the guide plate along a straight edge, a blind cut of 10 mm depth is made. The position of the index to the cut is noted after moving the saw backwards while. taking into account the indications given in the instruction sheet. 5.8 5.8.1 The ability to cut along walls is determine

、d by measuring the minimum distance between the median plan of the imitation blade to the plan passing by the closest part of the saw, or the side of the guide plate, with the blade set for a straight cut as shown in figure 5. Ability to cut near obstacles 5.8.2 The ability to cut toward walls is de

、termined by measuring the minimum distance between the output spindle and the front of the guide plate for maximum cutting depth, as-; shown in figure 6. 5.9 Guiding characteristics The minimum and maximum positions on the left and on the right of the rip guide are measured. The extreme positions of

、 the rip guide are the positions where it is still correctly fixed on the guide plate. The values recorded are the distances between the guiding surface of the rip guide and the centre line of the blade. 5.1 O Maximum cutting angle The maximum cutting angle is the angle measured between the real ver

、tical position of the blade and the maximum inclination position of the blade. 5.1 1 Flexible cord length The flexible cord length is the distance between the point of entry into the hand-held electric tool and the face of the electric plug, or the end of the cable sheath if no plug is fitted, measu

、red in metres. to the nearest 0,05 m. 5.1 2 Mass The mass is measured as for normal operation. The saw is fitted with all the safety elements (riving knife, guards, etc.) and other accessories necessary for normal use and delivered with the machine but detachable dust extraction accessories, blade,

、flexible cord and plug are not included. 5.13 Working rate For working rate tests, the wood chosen for the workpiece is beech with a moisture content of 10 o/o to 16 % without splits or knots affecting the results. E 3484583 O089830 090 I Page 10 EN 61176 : 1993 The saw shall be equipped with the bl

、ade recommended by the saw manufacturer in his catalogue for sawing beech or hard wood, all tests being carried out with the same blade. The tests shall be carried out in the following order: 5.1 3.1 The object of this test is to measure, in defined conditions, the cutting speed (feed) of the saw and to assess the quality of the work. During this test the input (in watts) is recorded. Sawing at half the maximum cutting depth 5.13.1.1 During this test, the saw is firmly fixed on a mobile table which is supported by rollers resting on the workpiece. T
