、 61204 applies to power supplies for general purpose applications. These power supplies carry out an a.c. to d.c. conversion or a d.c. to d.c. conversion. Appropriate provisions for safety will be found in the relevant product standards. As far as input characteristics are concerned, this standard a
、pplies to all d.c. or a.c. source voltages with a rated value of up to 600 V. As far as output characteristics are concerned, this standard applies only to the supplies of d.c. voltages of less than 200 V with a power limited to 2,5 kW; the latter power can be extended to 30 kW by taking care of the
、 appropriate test methods. The object of this part of IEC 61204 is to set down the requirements for the performance of low-voltage power supply devices of assessed functionality intended for serial production. If other performance requirements or quality assurance have been agreed by a contract, the
、 latter prevails. This part of IEC 61204 is intended as a guidance for the improvement of the performance of large series. For performance and quality conformance inspection, the numbering of the clauses and subclauses of this part of IEC 61204 refer, unless stated otherwise, to IEC 61204. 2 Normati

The manufacturer has to keep the records of the test results for 10 years after delivery of the last
、unit. The recommended number of specimens for the manufacturers standard power supplies depends on the type: - type A: 10 specimens - type B: 5 specimens - type C: 3 specimens - type O: 2 specimens For custom-made power supplies, the number of specimens should be discussed in the particular contract
、 between the manufacturer/user. O BSI 08-2001 Page 6 EN 61204-6:2001 5 Periodic quality conformance assessment For quality conformance assessment, the periodic conformance inspection for the power supply devices described in the detail specification includes the tests described in 5.1 and 5.2 below.
、 5.1 Batch tests These tests are conducted by the manufacturer during normal production in order to make sure that the device produced meets the conditions defined in the production specifications. Normal production tests are those tests carried out by the manufacturer on all units to verify the pow
、er supply functionality. If the tests of the normal production testing are not covered in clause 7, they are to be carried out in addition. The manufacturer has to keep the records of the test results for 10 years. 5.2 Periodic tests The tests identified in clause 8 shall be conducted on the indicat
、ed number of specimens, selected from every lot of 2 O00 units. When the size of the mass production is so low that the test cycle is economically not justified then the number of specimens under 6.1 can be reduced to the numbers stated in 6.2. If production of a particular unit is discontinued for
、more than 18 months, and if manufacture is resumed, the type test shall be performed again if fundamental design changes occurred or, if not, shall be limited to the periodic quality conformance assessment. If the manufacturer uses other methods than the AQL for batch tests and periodic inspection,
、they must be clearly documented and the limits stated. For the testing of electrical characteristics (test subgroup 3 in the following tables) care shall be taken to use the same test set-up configuration, for both the periodic and the initial product tests.
