11、rientation, location and run-out - Generalities, definitions, symbols, indications on drawings 1.3 Definitions For the purposes of this part of IEC 1269, the following definitons apply. 1.3.1 terminus: An optical component which terminates an optical fibre within a connector and which is both remova

12、ble from and replaceable in the connector. A specific terminus may be used in a wide variety of connector styles (0.g. circular, rectangular, rack and panel, hybrid, etc.) which may be qualified under other specification systems (e.g. specifications for electrical connectors). 1.3.2 termlnus set: Th

13、e two mateable termini. Generally, a set consists of a terminus pin and a terminus socket. 1.3.3 mechanically intermateable termlni: Termini which are capable of being mechani- cally mated. Performance or intermountability are not requirements for intermateability. - E II - - - 1.3.4 Interchangeable

14、 terminl: Termini which meet the same assessed performance specification and are intermountable. Interchangeability applies to a terminus set only * m since individual termini are not necessarily intermateable. 1.3.5 intermountable terminl: Termini which have identical mounting parameters. 15、ability or interchangeability are not requirements for intermountability. 1.3.6 termlnl control dlmenslons: Those termini dimensions which control inter- mateability and intermountability. 1.4 Abbreviations NSI: National Supervising Inspectorate; QPL: Qualified Products List. 2 Requirements 2.1 Qual

17、d, either totally .or in part, by the following categories: - type; - arrangement; - style; - variant; - climatic category; - environmental category; - assessment level. See table 1 for an example of a complete terminus-set classification. 2.2.1 Type Terminus sets shall be classified by type. Type i

18、s defined by three elements - the type name, the configuration, and the control dimensions. Examples of terminus-set names: - FOTS, gauge 8; - subminiature O, gauge 16. 21、es the delivered terminus-set form. Examples of arrangements: - kit; - pigtail. Terminus sets shall be classified by style. Style is defined by the fibre retention technology, the cable retention technology (where applicable), the optical coupling technology, and the alignment technology. Examples o

22、f fibre retention technologies: - adhesive; - crimp. Examples of cable retention technologies (where applicable): - adhesive; - crimp. Examples of optical coupling technologies: I_ - I - * m * - non-butting; - butting; - expanded beam. Examples of alignment technologies: .- clearance fit; - resilien

23、t bushing; - resilient tip; - spherical. 2.2.4 Variant Termini shall be classified by variant. The variant classif ication consists of the variant identification number (see 2.6.1). 2.2.5 Climatic category Terminus sets may be classified by climatic category as defined in Appendix A of IEC 68-1. 25、l category. Environmental category corresponds to the test schedules used for quality assessment. Environmental category standards are given in Annex A. 2.2.7 Assessment level Adaptors shall be classified by assessment level. Assessment level is designated by a capital letter. The following assessme

29、 27 and IEC 61 7 shall, as applicable, be used in detail specifications. 2.3.2 Specification system This specification is part of the three-level IEC specification system and includes blank detail specifications. Subsidiary specifications consist of detail specifications. 2.3.3 Drawings 2.3.3.1 Proj

30、ection system Detail specifications shall use either first angle or third angle projection. All drawings within one detail specification shall use the same projection system and the drawings shall state which system is used. 2.3.3.2 DmenSOnal system All dimensions shall comply with IS0 129, IS0 286-

31、1 and IS0 1 1 01. The metric system shall be used in detail specifications. Inch dimensions may be added for information. Conversion between systems of units shall comply with IS0 370. - E I m - - = - * m * 2.3.3.3 - Control dimensions The detail specification shall define the termini control dimens

32、ions and the counterpart component dimensions (see 3.3.4). The counterpart component dimensions shall define as a minimum: a) a fully toleranced cavity; b) the dimensions of those features, as required, which control termini alignment, including: - angular misalignment; - radial off set; - axial sep

33、aration. 2.3.4 Measurements 2.3.4.1 Measurement methods The detail specification shall define the size measurement method to be used for dimensions which are specified within a total tolerance zone of 0.01 mm (0,0004 inch) or less. 2.3.4.2 Reference components Reference components, if required, shal

34、l be specified in the detail specification. Page 10 EN 61269-1 : 1997 2.3.4.3 Gauges Gauges. if required, shall be specified in the detail specification. 2.3.5 Test data sheers Prepare test data sheets for each test conducted to a detail specification. Include the data sheets in the qualification re

35、port (see 3.3.12) and in the quality conformance report (see 3.4.3.7). Include the following minimum information in the each data sheet: - title of test and date; - specimen description including the type of fibre and the counterpart component (see 3.3.4). The description shall also include the vari

36、ant identification number (see 2.6.1); - test equipment used and date of latest calibration; - all applicable test details; - all measurement values and observations; - sufficiently detailed documentation to provide traceable information for failure analysis, (see 3.3.1 O and 3.4.3.6). 2.4 Design an

37、d construction 2.4.1 Materiais 2.4.1.1 Corrosion resistance All materials used in the construction of termini shall be corrosion resistant or suitably finished to meet the requirements of the detail specification. 2.4.1.2 Nonflammable materials When nonflammable materials are required, the requireme

38、nt shall be specified in the detail specification and IEC 695-2-2 shall be referenced. 2.4.2 Workmanship Components and associated hardware shall be manufactured to a uniform quality and shall be free of sharp edges, burrs or other defects that will affect Me, serviceability or appearance. Particula

39、r attention Shall be given to neatness and thoroughness of marking, plating, soldering, bonding, etc. 2.5 Quality assessment The quality assessment procedures of clause 3 shall control the quality of termini covered by this specification. 40、onents, associated hardware and packages shall be permanently and legibly identified and marked when required by the detail specification. 2.6.1 Variant identification number Assign a variant identification number to each variant in a detail specification. The number consists of the reference number

41、 assigned to the detail specification followed by a dash, a four-digit number and a letter designating the assessment level. Sequentially assign the first digit after the dash to each component type covered by the detail specification. Sequentially assign the last three digits to each variant of the

42、 component. EXAMPLE: QCW0001/US0001-1 O01 A Detail specification number: Component type: Variant: Assessment level: 2.6.2 Component marking - rn E When component marking is required, the recommended order is: a) manufacturers identification mark; b) manufacturing date code; c) manufacturers part num

43、ber; d) variant identification number. 2.6.3 Package marking When package marking is required, the recommended order is: a) manufacturers identification mark; b) manufacturers part number; c) manufacturing date code (yeariweek); d) variant identification number(s) (see 2.6.1); e) type name (see 2.2.

44、1); 1) assessment level(s) (see 2.2.7); g) environmental category (see 2.2.6); h) additional marking required by the detail specification. Page 12 EN 61269-1 : 1997 3 Quality assessment procedures The procedures for quality assessment and release of components consist of: - qualification approval pr

45、ocedures (see 3.3); - quality conformance inspection (see 3.4), 3.1 Primary stage of manufacture The primary stage of manufacture for termini covered by this specification is defined as: The manufacturing stage when the paris which make up the individual terminus are aggregated into the product defi

46、ned in the detail specification. Subcontracting of the primary stage and subsequent stages is permitted under the terms of 11.2.1 c) of IEC QC O01 002. 3.2 Structural similarity The grouping of structurally similar components for the purpose of qualification approval and quality conformance inspecti

47、on is prescribed by the following boundary limits. Structurally similar components shall: - have identical mating face dimensions; - be manufactured from essentially the same materials; - be manufactured to essentially the same design; - be manufactured utilizing essentially the same processes and m

48、ethods; - utilize the same fibre retention technology, cable retention technology, optical coupling technique, and alignment technique (see 2.2.3). Structurally similar components may: - accept various fibre sizes; - accept various cable sires. 3.3 Qualification approval procedures Qualification app

49、roval testing is conducted according to one of the two following procedures: the fixed sample procedure or the lot-by-lot plus periodic procedure. The detail specification shall specify which procedure applies. 3.3.1 Fixed sample procedure Qualification approval by the fixed sample procedure is granted when the product success- fully meets 11.3.1 a) of IEC QC 001002. 3.3.2 Lot-by-lot and periodic procedures Qualification approval by the tot-by-lot plus periodic procedure is granted when the product successfully meets 11.3.1 b) of IEC QC 001002. * rn * STD-BSI BS EN
