19、CES AND PASSIVE COMPONENTS - BASIC TEST AND MEASUREMENT PROCEDURES - Part 2-32: Tests - Water vapour permeation 1 General 1.1 Scope and object The purpose of this pari of IEC 1300 is to determine the suitability of closures for use in wet environments including underwater submersion. The test is sui
20、table for closures only. 1.2 General description Dry air, nitrogen or helium with a moisture content of less than 5 ppm is passed through a submerged closure at a rate of between 20 ml/min and 50 mumin and then through a hygrometer until a steady reading at the hygrometer is obtained. The difference
21、 of the moisture content of the incoming gas (r,) and on the gas exiting the closure (r2) is then translated into a water vapour permeation rate, expressed as pgh. 2 Apparatus The apparatus is shown in figure 1 and consists of the following elements. 2.1 Water tank A water tank capable of maintainin
22、g a temperature of 11 OC within the range of 10 OC to 60 OC. 2.2 Hygrometer A device to measure the moisture content of the incoming and exiting gas. 2.3 Gas supply Dry gas supply (air, nitrogen or helium with a humidity of less than 5 ppm). 2.4 Plugs Metal plugs for the closure which have connectio
23、ns for the gas supply lines. 24、he water bath. 3.3 Connect the dry gas source directly to the hygrometer and obtain a steady-state value of the moisture content (rl) at the flow rate to be used during the test. 3.4 Direct the gas through the closure and obtain a steady-state value of the moisture content (i2) of the gas flowing th
25、rough the closure at the same rate used to obtain the initial reading (r,). 3.5 The difference in moisture content between the incoming gas (rl) and the outgoing gas (r2) is then translated into a vapour permeation rate expressed in ug/h. 4 Severity The severity is determined by the allowable vapour
