49、26 BS IEC 61577-3:201261577-3 IEC:2011 7 INTRODUCTION Radon is a radioactive trace gas produced by the decay of 226Ra, 223Ra and 224Ra, respectively decay products of 238U, 235U and 232Th which are present in the earths crust. By decay, radon isotopes (i.e., 222Rn, 219Rn, 220Rn) produce three decay chains, each ending in a stable lead isotope. The radon isotope 220Rn generally is called thoron1. NOTE In normal conditions, due to the very short half-life of 219Rn, its activity and
