A numberofcountries haveimplemented regulations on public exposure to

36、 these fields. Therefore, in orderto evaluatehuman exposure levels to these fields adequately, common measurement procedures are required by not only professionals of national authorities and electricpower industries, butalso the general public.This standard is applied to the measurement of fieldsge

37、nerated byAC power systems inareasaccessible to the public. It establishes a common measurement procedure to evaluatethe exposure levelsof the human body to electricand magnetic fields among the generalpublic.The values obtained are for use to determine whetherthe fieldscomplywith exposure limitsby

38、comparing them withthe field limits for general public exposure such as the referencelevelsfromthe ICNIRP (International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection)Guidelines 11),MPE (maximum permissible exposure) from the IEEE (Institute of Electricaland Electronics Engineers) 2 or in national

39、 regulations. Ifthe values obtainedare higherthan the reference level or MPE, it does not necessarily mean that the basic restriction hasbeen exceeded, in which case other methodsmust be used to ensurethatbasic restriction isnot exceeded.The values obtained by using the procedures in this standard a

40、re for the load conditionsoccurring at the time of measurement. Therefore, in the case of magnetic field, in order tocheck compliance with some exposureguidelines or regulations thesevalues may need tobe extrapolated totake account of the maximum load of the circuits. This standard is not applicable

41、 to occupational exposure associated with, for example, the operation and/ormaintenance of the power systems.
