Thiswouldenable thevelocityarea methods to be fullydetailed for allcommonlyencountered airwaycross-sections.Itw

34、ouldalsoallow theaddition of descriptive annexes covering theselectionofsuitablemeasuring stations andinstrumentcalibration.In accordancewithrecentInternationalagreements,itwill be noted that fanpressure is nowdefinedasthedifferencebetween stagnationpressure at thefan inlet andoutlet. Stagnation pre

35、ssure is theabsolute pressurewhichwouldbemeasuredatapointinaflowinggasif it werebrought torest isentropically.For Machnumberslessthan0,2thegaugestagnationpressureis within0,6%ofthetotalpressure.Lessemphasis is placed on theuse of “fan static pressure“asthisisaconventional quantity only.Itistobeantic

36、ipated that its usewillcease with time.All fluidlossesare essentiallylossesinstagnation pressure andthishasbeenreflectedinthedefinitionsnowspecified.It should be recognizedthatthe performanceofafanmeasured under site conditions will not necessarily be thesameas that determined from tests usingstanda

37、rdized airways. Thereasonsfor such differences arenot onlydueto theinherentlylower accuracy of asitetest, butalsodue to theso-called “system effect factor“or“installationeffect“, wherethe ductingconnections at faninlet and/or outlet modifyits performance. Theneed forgoodconnections cannot be underst

38、ated. This InternationalStandardspecifies the useof“common parts“immediatelyadjoiningthe fans forthe consistent determination of pressure andalsotoensurethatair/gas is presentedtothefanasasymmetrical velocityprofile free from swirland unduedistortion. Only if theseconditions aremet, will theperforma

39、nceundersiteconditionsequate withthosemeasuredinstandardizedairways.It should alsobenotedthatthisInternationalStandardspecifies the positioning of velocity-areameasuring pointsaccording to log-Tchebycheff or log-linear rules.Arithmetic spacing canleadtoconsiderableerrorunlessaveryhighnumber of point

40、 readings aretaken. (Thesewould then have to beplotted graphicallyandthe area under thecurveobtained usingplanimetry. Thetrueaverage velocity wouldbethisareadividedbythe dimensionalordinates).It is outsidethe scope of this International Standardtoassess the additionaluncertaintywherethe lengths ofst

41、raight ducteither side of themeasuringstationare less than thosespecifiedinannex C.
