33、specified conditions2.3 domedreverse curlwhen centered, area ofspecimen that does not lie flat againstsupport plate 3 Principle 3.1DimensionalstabilityThe relative change in distance between marksora specific location on a testspecimen is measured beforeand after exposure to a heat treatment, under
34、specified conditions.Inthe caseoftiles,measurements may bemade using a blockand dialgauge assembly and marking of the test specimen is not necessarily required. 3.2Curling The verticaldeformations are measured in the testspecimen after the specified heat treatment. Test specimens are placed in an ov
35、en at an elevated temperature, after whichcurland dimensional stability are determined. In the case of domed material, turnthe testspecimen over to measure invertedorwiththe backofthe sample facing up. Measure curland mark appropriately as negative curl. In operation,ensure that radiation from the heating element does not directly reach the test specimens orsupport plates.
37、4.2Support plates, of solid metal, e.g. aluminiumorstainless steel, of dimensions larger thanthe testspecimen and not lessthan1,5 mmin thickness. Ensurethat the support plates are kept smooth and polishedso thatsurface friction does not interfere with free shrinkage or growth of the testspecimens. T
38、he plates shall be flat and free of convex or concave warp. The shapes and dimensionsofthe apparatus specified in 4.1 and 4.2 shall be such that: a) curling can be measured without removing the testspecimens from the supportplates, except in the caseof domed material; b) the clearance between the pl
39、ates and the vertical walls of the oven is W 50 mm; c) the vertical clearancebetween the support platesand between the platesand theoven is W 100 mm. 4.3 Measuringdevice.4.3.1 Measuringequipment (for sheet or tile testspecimens): preferablyan optical bench, fornon-contactmeasurements.The equipment s
40、hall have arange of at least 200 mmand a precision of 0,02mm. For manytypesofoptical benches, take care that the test specimen is properly seated against the base horizontal index guide when a specific measurement is being taken. Test specimens with concave or convex edges can be read incorrectly. 4

Cut out three (3), nominal 240 mm square testspecimens, at equal distance, from the sample material (see Figure 3). The distancebetween the outer edge of the sample and nearest edge of the
46、 testspecimen shall beat least 100 mm. The testspecimen edges shall be parallel/transverse to the direction of manufacture. Fortiles,remove tiles frompackage, discard top and bottom tile, spread them out, then randomlyselectthree testspecimens. The direction of manufactureshall, if possible, be mark

49、the two reference points formeasurement on the top of the test specimen and measure, with the wearsurface up, on the blockand the optical bench assembly (4.3.1),to ensure that any embossing along the edge of the testspecimen wear surface does not affect the measurements.To make the scoresmoreeasilyvisible, the scoresmay be marked with a solution of dyeinaqueous alcohol (i.e. whiteboard marker or equivalent).Placeeachtestspecimen on asupport plate (4.2) withits surface facing upward.
