9、 = 3404583 0054614 825 - Page 5 Final draft prl-ETS 300 227:1993 Foreword This final draft Interim European Telecommunication Standard (I-ETS) has been produced by the Transmission and Multiplexing (TMI Technical Committee of the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI), and, following

10、 a review of the comments received from Public Enquiry, is now submitted for the voting phase of the ETSI standards approval procedure. An ETSI standard may be given I-ETS status as it is regarded either as a provisional solution ahead of a more advanced standard, or because it is immature and requi

11、res a “trial period“. The life of an LETS is limited, at first, to three years after which it can be converted into a European Telecommunication Standard (ETS), have its life extended for a further two years, be replaced by a new version of the I-ETC or, finally, be withdrawn. This final draft I-ETS

12、 concerns the functional requirements for single-mode optical fibre to be used in cables for duct, directly buried and aerial cable applications. References are made to test methods and acceptance criteria in EN 188 O00 i21 and CCITT documents which are normative to this final draft LETS (see Clause

13、 2, “Normative references“). This final draft I-ETS has been produced in accordance with a specialised agreement on “Work Repartition and Co-operation for Standardisation concerning fibre optics“ and is part of the CEN/CENELEC/ETSI co-operation agreement. The requirements take into account CCITT Recommendatio

15、n G. 652 l I, “Characteristics of single-mode optical fibre cable“. The functional requirements specified in this I-ETS refer to uncabled fibre. 2 Normative references This I-ETS incorporates by dated or undated references provisions from other publications.
