2、 AND BODY LAYOUT REFERENCE PLANES 1 INTRODUCTION 1.1 Increasing emphasis on the coordinated worldwide products reinforces the need for common reference planes on both passenger cars and trucks throughout all Ford Product Engineering locations. Such reference planes will facilitate vehicle comparison
3、, design or derivative vehicles and the multi-use of major vehicle elements. These reference planes are in accordance with the SAE J1100 JUN93 SAE Recommended Practice. 2 DEFINITIONS 2.1.1 Inside Top of Frame a horizontal plane tangent to the frame side rail top flange inner surface. 2.1.2 Underside
4、 of Cab Floor a horizontal plane tangent to the lowest predominating surface on the underside surface of the cab floor at the centerline of driver (RHD or LHD) disregarding flanges and localized depressions. 2.1.3 Centerline of the Front Wheel a vertical plane at the intersection of the wheel axis a
5、nd the mid plane of the wheel at design position. 2.1.4 Front of Dash a vertical plane tangent to the foremost predominating surface of the passenger compartment at the centerline of driver (RHD or LHD) disregarding flanges and localized depressions. 2.2 RELOCATION OF FEATURES/SURFACES 2.2.1 In the
6、development of the vehicle, the feature/surface identified as the reference to establish the grid may need to be moved. In these circumstances, the zero reference planes already established must not be moved. The original surface/feature may therefore, cease to be coincident with the established gri
7、d line. 3 REQUIREMENTS 3.1 This standard applies to all new design passenger cars and trucks regardless of design office locations. Exception to use of the reference planes as shown in this standard may be made where an existing vehicle underbody structure using the previous reference plane system i
8、s carried over to a new body skin.
