、CALLY OPPOSITE AND LEFT AND RIGHTHAND PARTS 1 INTRODUCTION (Reserved) 2 DEFINITIONS 2.1 SYMETRICALLY OPPOSITE PARTS 2.1.1 Two parts are referred to as symmetrically opposite when they are identical in size and shape, except for one or more features which mirror each other about an axis outside of th
、e part. 2.2 SYMMETRICAL PARTS 2.2.1 A part is referred to as symmetrical if features about one or more axes within the part, mirror each other. 2.3 LEFT AND RIGHT HAND PARTS (RH & LH) 2.3.1 These are parts which perform the same function but are positioned on either the right hand or left hand side
、of the vehicle. These may be symmetrically opposite. 2.3.2 For example, door mirrors will generally have a RH and a LH version. 2.4 LEFT AND RIGHT HAND DRIVE PARTS (RHD & LHD) 2.4.1 These are parts which perform the same function but are different because of the particular requirements of the hand-o
、f-drive of the vehicle on which they are fitted. These may be symmetrically opposite. 2.4.2 For example, a passenger glove box lid may have a Left and Right Hand Drive version. 3 REQUIREMENTS 3.1 SYMMETRICALLY OPPOSITE PARTS 3.1.1 When parts are Symmetrically Opposite, it is only necessary to show o
、ne of the parts. The hand that is drawn should be indicated. The Symmetrically Opposite Part should be indicated by a reference to the part number on the drawing frame. 3.2 SYMMETRICAL PARTS 3.2.1 Where only portion of a part is drawn, the boundary of that drawing should be defined as an axis of sym
、metry. That axis should be labeled as such. The symmetry of a part should not be referred to in the drawing frame. 8、T HAND PARTS (RH & LH) 3.3.1 If the part is the left hand version, then the Drawn Hand indicator should state LH. If the right hand is drawn, then that indicator should state RH. If the question of RH or LH does not apply in a meaningful way to that part, then N/A should be stated against the Drawn
、Hand indicator. 3.4 LEFT AND RIGHT HAND DRIVE PARTS (RHD & LHD) 3.4.1 If a part is specified to a hand-of-drive vehicle, and it is desirable to indicate this on the drawing, then that should be indicated separately from any reference to symmetry or the existence of Right or Left Hand parts. 3.4.2 Sy
、mmetry is neither inferred or necessary when considering LHD or RHD and relates only to usage, not position. 3.5 DtM APPLICATION. NOTE: For manufacturing or engineering areas where the lefthand part is shown and the righthand part is indicated as being symmetrically opposite, see Figure C7.1. For ar
、eas where the righthand part is shown, with the lefthand part indicated as being symmetrically opposite, see Figure C7.2 and Figure C7.3. 3.5.1 When parts are symmetrically opposite it is only necessary to show one hand of part and refer to the other as symmetrically opposite. 3.5.2 Symmetrically op
、posite parts are indicated on drawings as shown in Figure C7.1 and Figure C7.2. 3.5.3 If one of the parts is symmetrically opposite to the other but with minor differences, it may be treated as symmetrically opposite with the differences clearly related to the affected part. See Figure C7.3. 3.6 CtM
、 APPLICATION. 3.6.1 Symetrically opposite parts are indicated in the first frame information, see Standard A-1 Figure A-1.5.1 and on model using PMI, as either RH or LH part.
