FECDS C-9 Engineering CAD & Drafting Standards Version 28 TOC PRODUCT LAYOUT REQUIREMENTS 1 INTRODUCTION 1

2、.1 A Product layout is the tool used to describe any new, revised or adapted design depicting its development of new parts and assemblies and their usage and conditions in the surrounding vehicle environment. It is comprised of components, assemblies or systems as defined by the CPSC (Corporate Prod

3、uct System Classification) codes and any other surrounding or mating CPSC systems (background) that have the potential to impact the design. Extreme care must be taken to ensure that the design is robust, functional and can be assembled. Other support types of layouts can be created such as a Stacku

4、p Layouts, Study Layouts and Installation Layouts, etc., and can be identified as to their type, for example: NEW DESIGN FOR COST EVALUATION ONLY. 2 DEFINITIONS 2.1 CAD DESIGN/VEHICLE VERIFICATION 2.1.1 The nominal and variational study, review, recording and confirmation of vehicle compatibility at

This is extremely important relative to patent protection. After th

6、e layout is finished, the Originator will fill in the date completed. 3.2 METHODS 3.2.1 There are many methods by which a layout may be created, modified and documented. These range from a fully electronic style with no format, to a formatted style using title blocks, revision columns which allow fo

See Standard G-1, page G1.1.

8、It is crucial that all data usedor referenced as background within the layout, regardless of the layout method used, reflects the latest design intent. This permits CAD Data changes to be captured and ensures that the design is kept current through all stages. Ancillary layouts that supportthe desig

The Product Layout is also used to identify interferences, confirm clearances a

11、nd conformity with the WCR (Worldwide Customer Requirements) Standards between parts and systems that must fit and function together within the confines of the total vehicle environment. This is known as Compatibility. Sections, clearance checklists, removal studies or tolerance accumulation (stacku

All product usages, assembly and service conditions i.e. power tools, wrenches, and part removal studies etc, must be considered within the layout. GDT on individual components, plus the affect of tolerance accumulation in assemblies must also

CAD Design/Vehicle Verification is complete when these tasks have been performed. 3.5 FASTENERS 3.5.1 Utility and Standard parts, Se

Confirmation of their fit using MMC/LMC tolerance studies, and function as well as their installation must be proven within the layout using sections through attachment joints an
