、FORD MANUFACTURING STANDARDS EC2 NEMA CONTROL RELAYS - AC MACHINE TOOLS EC2 DECEMBER 1992 ELECTRO-MECHANICAL TYPES Page 1 1. GENERAL: 1.1 This standard describes requirements and tests for control relays intended for general use throughout the Ford Motor Company. 2. ELECTRICAL RATINGS: 2.1 VOLTAGE:
、2.1.1 Relay coils shall be suitable for operation at 120v AC, 60 Hz, and 1lOv AC (50 Hz) or 24v DC. Other components shall be rated 300v AC. Higher voltage ratings are acceptable if other requirements of this standard are met. 2.1.2 Relays shall operate successfully within a voltage range of plus 10
、% to minus 15% of the nominal supply. Voltage varia- tions may be gradual or instantaneous excursions from the nominal. 2.2 CURRENT: 2.2.1 Contacts shall be capable of controlling an inductive load operating at 115 AC, of 7.5 amperes inrush current at 13.6% power factor, and 1.2 amperes sealed at 32
、.6% power factor. Contacts shall also be capable of controlling typical loads of 40 milliamperes at 115 AC (nominal). 2.3 3. 4. Electrical spacings shall allow application of the relay (both coil and contacts) without restrictions of polarity, at the rated voltage of the relay. TEMPERATURE RATINGS:
、Relays shall be capable of operating continuously inside anenclosure in a temperature range from -32 C to 71 C (-26 F to 160 F). VIBRATION: Relays shall function normally when subjected to vibration up to 60Hz in each of three mutually perpendicular axes, with a maximum excursion of -030“ peak to pe
、ak. The total loading will not exceed 5.5 G for a maximum of one minute. The relay shall also operate properly under any forces generated by its own operation. 7、S SHALL BE ENCAPSULATED: 5.2 Coils shall be permanently identified with the manufacturers name or trademark, catalog or replacement part number, voltage and frequency. The nominal rating for coils in Ford Plants in the United States is 115 volts (60 Hz) or 24 volts dc. 5.3 Coils shall conform to all
、 heat rise, voltage range of operation, and other requirements outlined in NRMA Standard ICS. 6. CONDUCTOR TERMINATIONS: 6.1 Terminals on the relay shall accommodate at least two type MTW, 19 strand conductors, AWG 16 thru 14. The conductor strands shall be clamped between two non-rotating surfaces.
、 Saddle or pressure plates shall be captive to the terminal screw. Neither the head nor the point of the terminal screw shall bear directly on the conductor strands. Screw shall not be smaller than Number 6/32, and of sufficient length so that at least two threads remain engaged when the clamping as
、sembly is open to receive the largest conductor. 6.2 Terminals shall be accessible for test and maintenance purposes with the relay mounted in place and all conductors connected. 7. CONTACTS: 7.1 CONTACT ASSEMBLIES (MODULES): 7.1.1 Relay design shall incorporate contact assemblies of the modular typ
、e and allow individual removal or replacement of the module without disturbing adjacent modules or wiring. The design shall provide a common mechanical tie between all contact assemblies and the armature movement. 7.1.2 7.1.3 Each module shall be readily convertible from normally open to normally cl
、osed, or vice versa. Exception: This requirement does not apply to reed type contact assemblies. The normally open and normally closed section of the module(s) shall be permanently coded for identification purposes. The code and an explanation of the code shall be visible with wiring or other accessories or attachments in their normal position.
