2、 USED FOR NEW DESIGN 1. SCOPE The material defined by this specification is a heat curing, water based cathodic electrocoat enamel and associated make-up feed components. 2. APPLICATION This material was released originally for use as a primer or final coat on steel wheels. . REQUIREMENTS 3.1 COMPOS

3、ITION 3.1.1 Non-volatile (FLTM BI 2-1) 3.1.1.1 Charging Material, min 53.0 Wt. % 3.1.1.2 Feed Material 3.1.1.2.1 Resin, min 60.0 Wt. % 3.1.1.2.2 Pigment, min 34.0 Wt. % 3.2 INFRARED SPECTROPHOTOMETRY (IR), EMISSION SPECTROSCOPY (ES), AND THERMOGRAVIMETRIC ANALYSIS (TGA) Ford Motor Company, at its op

4、tion, may conduct IR, ES, and TGA of material/parts supplied to this specification. The spectrum established for initial approval shall constitute the reference standard and shall be kept on file at the designated material laboratory. All samples shall produce spectra that correspond to the referenc

5、e standard when tested under the same conditions as those specified on the master spectra. Prepare the IR sample by scraping the cured paint from a test panel and mixing with infrared quality potassium bromide. Pulverize the sample with a mortar and pestle or a mechanical mixer to a homogeneous powd

6、er and press into a pellet with a hydraulic press at 11.7 MPa. Place the pellet in the infrared beam and scan. 10、-A Page 3 of 4 3.7.7 Florida Exposure After 12 months exposure at 45 facing south in the Miami, Florida area, there shall be no blistering, peeling, or visible rusting along the scribe line, than 3.0 mm total width. Panels shall be scribed with an “X“ to the bare metal prior to exposure. Florida exp

11、osure shall be conducted only for initial certification. 3.7.8 Baking The applied enamel film requires curing by baking a minimum of 20 minutes at 190 C. 3.7.9 Adhesion (to base metal) No flaking or chipping 3.8 SUPPLIERS RESPONSIBILITY All materials supplied to this specification must be equivalent

12、 in all characteristics to the material upon which approval was originally granted. Prior to making any change in the properties, composition, construction, color, processing or labeling of the material originally approved under this specification, whether or not such changes affect the materials ab

13、ility to meet the specification requirements, the Supplier shall notify Purchasing, Toxicology and the affected Materials Engineering activity of the proposed changes and obtain the written approval of the Materials Engineering activity. Test data, test samples and a new code identification are to b

14、e submitted with the request. Substance restrictions imposed by law, regulations or Ford, apply to the materials addressed by this document. The restrictions are defined in Engineering Material Specification WSS-M99P9999-A1, unless a different suffix (e.g., A2 or A3) is specified on the engineering

15、document for the application. 4. APPROVAL OF MATERIALS Materials defined by this specification must have prior approval by the responsible Materials Engineering activity. Suppliers desiring approval of their materials shall first obtain an expression of interest from the affected Purchasing, Design

16、and Materials Engineering activity. Upon request, the Supplier shall submit to the affected Materials Engineering activity its own laboratory report to the specification (test results, not nominal values), the material designation and code number, and test specimens for Ford evaluation. Upon approva

GENERAL INFORMATION The information given below is provided for assistance and clarification and does not represent requirements to these specifications. 5.1

18、 INTERCOAT ADHESION Panels painted in accordance with para 3.6 and top sprayed with either ESB-M50J100/M32J101 (0.04 - 0.05 mm) should display good adhesion between coats and no flaking of second coat from first per FLTM BI 6-2. 5.2 FLASH POINT (ASTM D 56) 5.2.1 Charging Material, min 49.6 C 5.2.2 Feed Material, min 5.2.2.1 Resin 49.6 C 5.2.2.2 Pigment 100 C
