SCOPE The material defined by this specification is a water-based corrosion preventive compound suitable for post underbody vehicle or individual component usage requiring minimal or no pretreatment. 2
3、. APPLICATION This specification was released originally for a compound used to provide the underbody/chassis with a minimum of 10 cycles of Arizona Proving Ground corrosion testing. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform
4、 to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.1 COMPOSITION 3.1.1 Color Black 3.1.2 Non-Volatile Solids, by weight, min 48% (FLTM BI 102-01, except waxes 120 h at 23 +/- 2 C) 3.1.3 Volatile Content Balance Shall be composed of 70% water minimum 3.1.4 Emissions 3

7、3 +/- 2 C. 3.3 PREPARATION OF TEST PANELS Test panels (CRLC, galvanized and current production Electrocoat) must be approved to ASTM D 609 Type I designation. 3.3.1 Application Procedure Spray the test compound to a wet film thickness of 0.25 +/- 0.025 mm using an airless spray pump (such as ARO Mod
8、el #612-862) equipped with appropriate size orifice to produce a “flat“ (in one plane) spray pattern. 3.3.2 Dry Time (Dry to Handle), max 15 minutes (ASTM D 1640, Section 6.6) 3.3.3 Aging Panels shall be aged for 72 h at 23 +/- 2 C or 16 h at 43 +/- 2 C before running adhesion or resistance tests. 3
9、.4 RESISTANCE PROPERTIES 3.4.1 Salt Spray Resistance, min 1 000 h (FLTM BI 103-01, CRLC and galvanized panels only) No corrosion or loss of material adhesion allowed beyond 2.0 mm from scribe. 12、roduct engineering office. 3.5 RESISTANCE TO BURNING Prepare panels per para 3.3. After 4 h air drying at 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5% relative humidity, there shall be no rapid flame spread, no dripping of flaming material, or excessive smoke when subjected to the ignition sources listed below. 13、me produced must be self-extinguishing within 30 s after removal of the ignition source. A) Arc weld 2 panels together (end to end) B) Cut panel across the short dimension with an acetylene torch. C) Cut panel across the short dimension with an abrasive cutting wheel. 3.6 CLEAN-UP Must be readily removable from painted surfaces, bright trim, interior trim, glass, vinyl roofs, tires, etc. using water or commercially available cleaners without damaging the substrate.
