SCOPE The material defined by these specifications is needled, nonwoven glass fiber batt, with no resin or organic fibers added for bonding. 2. APPLICATION These specifications were released
3、originally for material used as a thermal insulator in load bearing areas for 1981 floor pans in the area of the thermactor thermal switch and over the catalytic converter. 3. REQUIREMENTS Material specification requirements are to be used for initial qualification of materials. 3.0 STANDARD REQUIRE
4、MENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.3 CONSTRUCTION The fibers shall be mechanically opened and needled. The fibers used shall not be less than 1.0 in (25 mm) in length. Th
5、e fiber diameter shall be 0.00035 in (8.9 mm) average, with 85% under 0.00040 in (10.2 mm). 3.4 COMPOSITION 3.4.1 Fiber 97 - 99% glass fiber (Type “E“ or equivalent) 3.4.2 Organic Materials 1 - 3% organic weaving lubricant 3.5 THICKNESS Average of 5 readings (FLTM BN 023-02) A1/B1 0.42 +/- 0.06 in (

12、ERIES FLAMMABILITY 3.10.1 In order to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 302, the materials, portions of components, and composites shall not burn, or transmit a flame across its surface, at a rate of more than 4 in (101 mm) per min. To demonstrate compliance, the sample size and
13、method of testing shall be in accordance with FLTM BN 024-02. 3.10.2 Performance - Environmental Aging All materials, portions of components, and composites defined by this specification that have not been treated, modified or reformulated and exceed a max burn rate of 3.0 in (76 mm) per min as spec
14、ified by the Flammability Lot Sampling Plan of FLTM BN 024-02, must be evaluated for permanency of the materials flame retardant properties per ESB-M25P3-A according to the accelerated environmental aging requirements applicable to the basic material category of this particular specification. Any ma

Test Method: Prepare two, 10 x
19、10 in (250 x 250 mm) samples of the glass fiber batt. Heat age one sample for 2 h at 205 C and condition at 23 +/- 2 C for 4 h. Staple both samples adjacent to each other on a 10 x 20 in (250 x 500 mm) medium to lightweight pile carpet, (ESB-M3H20 or ESB-M3H30 type). Conduct the test as indicated ab
