SCOPE The material defined by this specification is made of glass fibers, molded with an inert thermosetting resin and spray coated with vinyl on one side. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originall
3、y for material used as a molded sound absorber and heat insulator for the engine compartment of the 1984 Mark VII, Continental and medium trucks. 3. REQUIREMENTS Material specification requirements are to be used for initial qualification of materials. 3.0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERI
4、ALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.2 CONSTRUCTION 3.2.1 Fiberglass The fiberglass used for this specification shall meet the requirements of and be currently approved to ESB-M12G62-A, Fiberglass, M
5、olded-High Density. 3.2.2 Protective Coating Shall be a vinyl compound suitable for application to glass fiber insulation products. It shall be sprayed on the fiberglass at the rate of 97 +/- 22 g/m2 (dry weight). 3.3 COLOR 3.3.1 Glass Fiber Batt Amber or black 3.3.2 Vinyl Coating Black 3.4 COMPRESS

Bend 180 around a temperature conditioned 25 mm mandrel, vinyl side up. 3.6 HEAT RESISTANCE No softening, dripping or deteriorating of vinyl coating Test Method: Expose two 100 x 100 mm samples in a mechanical convection oven maintained
8、at 135 +/- 3 C for 1 h. 3.7 THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY, max 0.035 W/m/ K (ASTM C 177, 24 C mean temperature) 3.8 FLAMMABILITY, max 101 mm/min (FLTM BN 024-02, without the lot sampling plan) In addition, the test specimen shall not exhibit any flashing or sudden flaming on either surface in excess of the above maximum value.
