2、N MATERIALS, INFLATABLE RESTRAINT ESB-M15P16-A NOT TO BE USED FOR NEW DESIGN 1. SCOPE This specification defines the standardized characteristics desired in a good quality automotive inflatable restraint cushion fabric assembly. 2. APPLICATION This assembly is generally used as a part of the passive

3、 air cushion restraint system. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.2 APPEARANCE (FLTM BI 109-01) The material colors, printing, or iden

4、tification markings shall be as specified on the engineering drawing. 3.3 CONSTRUCTION (ASTM D 1910) The weave, thread count, yarn description and yarn structure shall be as specified in the individual material specifications describing the fabric construction. The following thread count tolerances

5、shall apply: Thread Count Tolerance Warp or Wales/Inch 3% Fill or Courses/Inch 2% 3.4 SEAM STRENGTH, min (FLTM BN 119-01, for sewn assembly only) The test shall be conducted on seams cut from the assembly, and the seam strength shall be at least 85% of the values indicated for the original samples a

6、nd environmentally aged samples per section 3.9.2, 3.9.3 and 3.9.4. 3.5 ODOR Materials employed in the assembly shall not emit any objectionable odor as received or after the aging tests as enumerated above. 7、C Page 2 of 3 3.6 COLD FLEX (FLTM BN 102-01) Materials shall remain flexible and not crack when tested in both the machine and across machine directions. 3.7 FLAMMABILITY REQUIREMENT In order to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 302, the materials, portions of components, and com

8、posites shall not burn, or transmit a flame across its surface, at a rate of more than 4 inches per minute. To demonstrate compliance, the sample size and method of testing shall be in accordance with Ford Laboratory Test Method BN 024-02. 3.8 PERFORMANCE - ENVIRONMENTAL AGING REQUIREMENT All materi

9、als, portions of components, and composites defined by this specification that have not been treated, modified or reformulated, and exceed a maximum burn rate of 3.0 inches per minute as specified by the Flammability Lot Sampling Plan of Ford Laboratory Test Method BN 024-02, must be evaluated for p

10、ermanency of the materials flame retardant properties per ESB-M25P3-A according to the accelerated environmental aging requirements applicable to the basic material category of this particular specification. Any material, portions of components, and composites defined by this specification that have

11、 been treated, modified or reformulated to conform to Flammability Lot Sampling Plan of Ford Laboratory Test Method BN 024-02, regardless of maximum burn rate, must be evaluated for both permanency of materials flame retardant properties and changes in mechanical, chemical and physical properties pe

12、r ESB-M25P3-A applicable to the basic material category of this particular specification. 3.9 ENVIRONMENTAL AGING Upon completion of each of the following environmental aging tests (3.9.2, 3.9.3, 3.9.4), the fabrics shall meet 85% of the requirements for elongation, air permeability, and coating adh

13、esion as specified in the individual material specification. In addition, the material after aging shall retain 75% of the original unaged value for breaking strength, trapezoid tear strength, tongue tear strength, and burst strength. Also, the stiffness value for the material after aging shall chan

14、ge no more than 25% of the original value. 3.9.1 Conditioning The materials shall be conditioned per section 3.1 prior to conducting any test after aging. 3.9.2 Heat Aging 21 days at 102 C. 3.9.3 Cycle Aging Three cycles ENGINEERING MATERIAL SPECIFICATION ESB-M15P16-A Copyright 2013, Ford Global Tec

15、hnologies, LLC Page 3 of 3 One cycle shall consist of: 72 hours at 98 2% RH, 38 C 24 hours at -40 C 72 hours at 102 C 3.9.4 Ozone Aging (ASTM D 1171, for coated materials only) 21 days at 50 PPHM ozone, 38 C In addition to the requirements indicated in section 3.9, the material shall show no evidenc

16、e of cracking or deterioration. 3.10 DIMENSIONAL STABILITY, max, 2.0% (FLTM BN 105-03, except use a 120 C convection oven) Materials exhibiting cracking, tackiness, or blistering shall be cause for rejection. 3.11 WEIGHT LOSS (SAE J860) Employing samples tested to 3.10, the material shall exhibit a

17、weight loss of no greater than 3%. 3.12 BLOCKING RESISTANCE (SAE J912) The material shall exhibit no blocking when placed coating to coating with itself at 0.5 psi (3.4 kPa) for 21 days at 102 C. 3.13 FOGGING (SAE J 1756, for coated materials only) The light transmission value for the materials (coa

18、ted or uncoated) shall not be less than 95. Any liquid deposits or exudations are undesirable and shall be cause for rejection. 3.14 MILDEW No mildew growth Test Method: Place a 10 in x 10 in (254 mm x 254 mm) specimen in a humidity cabinet at 100% RH and 38 C for 21 days. 3.15 RESISTANCE TO WEATHERING (FLTM BO 101-01) The materials shall exhibit no stiffening, cracking, or any adverse effects after exposure for 20 hours in the weatherometer.
