SCOPE The materials defined by this specification are austenitic chromium stainless steels (AISI Types 201 and 211) having good corrosion resistance, sufficient drawing or forming properties to make the part an

APPLICATION This specification was released originally for the manufacture of decorative trim mouldings, hub caps and wheel covers. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material su

The low yield designation applies to materials used for parts difficult to fabricated in roll-forming or stamping sections. It can be substituted for AISI Type 434 materials (

10、ESB-M1A70) in easily stamped or roll-formed sections, utilizing dies designed for use with AISI Type 434 steel. 3.2.3 Low Yield And Low Work Hardening Alloy 3.2.3.1 Chemical Composition Carbon 0.07 max Manganese 5.5 - 7.5 Silicon 0.75 max Phosphorus 0.06 max Sulfur 0.03 max Chromium 16.00 - 20.00 Ni

11、ckel 3.5 - 6.0 Copper 1.5 - 2.0 Nitrogen 0.25 max (less than 0.15 preferred) 3.2.3.2 Physical Properties (Annealed) Yield Strength, max 40,000 (275 MPa) Elongation, min 50 % Hardness, Rockwell “B“, max 82 The above material is primarily intended for use in deep drawing operations where lower yield s

12、trength and lower work hardening rate will be advantageous. This material provides corrosion resistance equal to Type AISI 201. 3.2.4 Surface Finish Material supplied to this specification shall be uniform in quality, clean, sound, smooth, not to exceed 10 RMS micro-inch finish and free from defects

13、 detrimental to performance in fabrication, corrosion resistance or appearance of part for which it is intended. The surface quality shall be such that the material can be buffed to a finish and luster to meet visual acceptance standards using a maximum of three buffing passes per standard procedure

14、s and using standard buffing equipment per FLTM BQ 6-3. The 10 RMS micro-inch finish does not apply to areas where a special surface finish such as frosted or brushed is specified. 15、on Resistance - As Received From the Mill FLTM BQ 5-1 The material required under this specification shall have been given sufficient final pickling and passivation treatment to obtain acceptable corrosion resistance. Material as received and given no further preparation shall not show signs of fail

16、ure by red rust, pit corrosion, or etching type corrosion beyond that tabulated below when subjected to the C.A.S.S. Test (Copper Acetic Acid Salt Spray Test) for a period of 16 hours. If on retest the material meets rating #1, the material shall be acceptable. 3.2.6 Corrosion Resistance - Buffed Samples Samples

18、 of flat sheet when buffed to a sufficient finish and luster to match the master visual inspection sample or samples approved by the affected Product Engineering Office, shall meet the corrosion requirements of #1 rating of red rust, pit corrosion and etching type corrosion as shown in Table I under

19、 paragraph 3.1.5, Corrosion Resistance. 3.3 FINISHED PRODUCTS - BRIGHT DECORATIVE SURFACE FINISH 3.3.1 Surface Finish Finished products shall have been buffed by an appropriate method, either by hand or mechanical means and with proper wheels, belts and compounds as required to produce an acceptable

20、 surface finish and luster on significant surfaces to meet the master visual inspection sample part or parts approved by the affected Product Engineering Office and to provide specified corrosion resistance. Mitered joints (Example: glass window frame) shall be welded to provide a non-porous surface

21、, when buffed shall provide a corrosion resistant finish; and meet the master visual acceptance standard. 22、on resistance requirements for red rust, pit corrosion, and etching type corrosion as shown in Table I under paragraph 3.1.5 as follows: Exterior Parts: Rating No. 1 Interior Parts: Rating No. 2 3.3.3 Significant Surfaces Significant surfaces are those surfaces which in assembly are visible and subj

23、ected to wear or corrosion or both. Sheared or slit edges are excepted from the term significant surfaces unless specifically noted on the Engineering Drawing, which case they are to be buffed for corrosion resistance. 3.4 FINISHED PRODUCTS - SPECIAL DECORATIVE SURFACE FINISH 3.4.1 Surface Finish Fr

24、osted or brushed as specified on the Engineering Drawing. The special decorative surface finishes shall be applied to parts prepared in accordance with paragraph 3.2.1. 3.4.2 Corrosion Resistance Parts receiving special decorative surface finishes such as frosted or brushed require special adequate

25、corrosion protection.
