SCOPE The material defined by this specification is a magnetic, heat curing/epoxy/fiberglass laminate, supplied in
3、die cut form with release paper backing. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originally for material used to reinforce and stiffen sheet metal body panels. This material can be applied to oily cold rolled steel, zincrometal and galvanized steel surfaces. Recommended minimum material cure
4、temperature is 171 C for 10 minutes metal temperature. Material high temperature resistance permits application to body components exposed to electrocoat bake ovens. ESB-M2G281-A and ESB-M2G281-C materials provide similar flexural strength at equivalent thicknesses. 3. REQUIREMENTS Material specific
5、ation requirements are to be used for initial qualification of materials. 3.0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.4 UNCURED MATERIAL PROPERTIES 3.4.1 Const
6、ruction Construction shall consist of an epoxy magnetic carrier/coated fiberglass adhesive laminate. There shall be no loose glass fibers after die cut operation. 3.4.2 Thickness, Test Sample 1.2 +/- 0.1 mm (ASTM D 461, 85 g load, 25 mm diameter foot, total fiberglass and adhesive) 3.4.3 Formability

8、l shall not peel at edges or fall off from panel. Test Method: . Apply a 100 x 150 mm adhesive laminate strip to the center of two 300 x 300 mm metal panels of each substrate listed in para 5.2. . Pass a 2 kg roller over sample in one forward and reverse direction. . Invert panels immediately after
9、adhesive application and condition at 23 +/- 2 C for 4 h min. . Save panels for Inverted Bake Test, para 3.5.2. 3.4.6 Magnetic Adhesion Test, min 2.0 N 3.4.6.1 Normal Test at 23 +/- 2 C 3.4.6.2 Aged (Condition for maximum storage per para 3.4.9, then test at 23 +/- 2 C) Test Method: . Apply a 75 mm
10、x 75 mm x 1.30 mm adhesive laminate strip to the center of a 125 mm x 125 mm cold rolled steel metal panel without removing the release paper. . Attach a tin 0.40 mm diameter wire by fiber tape to the center of the adhesive laminate strip. . Use an Instron with a 454 gram load cell at a rate of 50 m
11、m/min to apply an upward tensile load to the thin wire.* . For in plant testing, attaching a spring loader to the thin wire (Hunter Spring Loader with a 89 N limit is acceptable) . If using a spring loader, apply a slow upward pull, approximately 50 mm/min until the test sample is separated from the
12、 cold rolled steel panel. 13、phate tanks. 3.4.7.1 Laboratory (FLTM BV 116-01, Method “A“) 3.4.7.2 Functional Materials being evaluated for initial approval to the specification shall be subjected to a production trial in an area intended for use. This trial will be conducted after all other specification requirements have been
14、met including laboratory evaluation for flow phosphate wash resistance. 3.4.8 Electrocoat Compatibility Shall not contaminate (FLTM BV 119-01, use current electrocoat primer bath production paints as identified cause electrocoat film by the Body Materials Engineering irregularities. 15、orage Stability The material shall be stored at temperatures below 32 C away from all sources of heat and sunlight in sealed packaging approved by B&CE Materials Engineering. Heat greatly accelerates aging. Under these storage conditions, the shelf life of the material shall be two months. When thes
16、e materials are stored at temperatures below 23 C, they shall be conditioned at room temperature prior to application. It shall be easily removed from the adhesive without adhesive sepa
18、ration or paper tear. 3.4.11 Packaging The material shall be supplied in sealed packages. Material blocking or dimensional changes is not permitted during container shipping or storage. 3.5 CURED MATERIAL PROPERTIES 3.5.1 Flexural Strength, min Normal (Condition for 30 minutes at specified temperatu

Apply a 1.2 x 25 x 150 mm adhesive laminate strip to a 25 x 150 mm panel of each substrate listed in para 5.2. . Pa
21、ss a 2 kg roller over sample in one forward and reverse direction. . Cure test samples per the process bake schedules, para 5.3. . After exposure to each test condition, place test samples in the fixture shown on the following page. . Conduct flexural strength test at a crosshead rate of 5 mm/minute
22、. . Record the peak load value. A min of three samples per test condition shall be evaluated. 23、 exhibit a smooth, non-blistered surface and shall not peel at edges or fall off from panel. Test Method: . Condition one half of the panels of each substrate prepared per para 3.4.5 to 23 +/- 2 C for 4 h prior to subjecting to an inverted bake. Panels should remain inverted during conditioning. . C
24、ondition one half of the panels of each substrate prepared per para 3.4.5 to 72 h at 38 +/- 2 C and 95 - 100% RH. Panels should remain inverted during conditioning. . Subject the conditioned panels prepared per para 3.4.5 to an inverted bake. . Maintain adhesive in the inverted position and expose t
25、he panels to the process bake conditions per para 5.3. . Save samples for Cold Slam Test per para 3.5.3. 3.5.3 Cold Slam (FLTM BV 1-2, 10 cycles of six slams at - 29 +/- 2 C, subject the panels prepared per para 3.5.2) The material shall not crack or separate from panel. Such conditions, if present, sha
27、ll be cause for rejection. Uncured and cured samples shall be tested. 3.6 FUNCTIONAL APPROVAL Materials being evaluated for approval to this specification shall be subjected to a production trial. Functional trial results must be approved by the affected assembly operation and Design Engineering. Re
28、sults shall be made available to Materials Engineering prior to material approval and release. 5. GENERAL INFORMATION The information given below is provided for clarification and assistance in meeting the requirements of this specification. 5.1 MECHANICAL CONVECTION OVEN The mechanical oven(s) used
29、 to cure the material shall be capable of obtaining 204 C metal temperature on body steel (0.89 mm thickness) within 8 - 10 minutes. 5.2 SUBSTRATES 5.2.1 CRLC steel meeting ESB-M1A250-A: Nominal 0.81 mm thickness - surface precoated with M-14B90A-B(F) stamping lubricant at an application of approxim
30、ately 0.013 mm wet film thickness. 5.2.2 Galvanized steel meeting WSB-M1A250-C3: Nominal 0.81 mm thickness - surface precoated with M-14B90A-B(F) stamping lubricant at an application of approximately 0.013 mm wet film thickness. 5.3 PROCESS BAKE SCHEDULES 5.3.1 Minimum: 171 C for 10 minutes metal temperature 5.3.2 Maximum: 204 C for 30 minutes metal temperature
