APPLICATION:This specification was released originally for material used to preventbolt torque loss and to seal against water leaks on third door hingeassemblies.3. REQUIREMENTS:3.1 INFRARED SPECTROPHOTOMETRY AND/OR THERMAL ANALYSISFord Motor

3、Company, at its option, may conduct infrared and/orthermal analysis of material/parts supplied to this specification.The curves established for initial approval shall constitute thereference standard and shall be kept on file at Central Laboratory.All samples shall produce curves that correspond to

4、the referencestandard when tested under the same conditions as those specifiedon the master curve.3.2 CONDITIONINGAll test values indicated herein are based on material conditionedin a controlled atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5% relativehumidity for 24 h prior to testing and tested under the s

5、amecontrolled conditions.3.3 NEEDLE PENETRATION AT 23 +/- 2 C(ASTM D 1321, 100 g total load)3.3.1 As Received 3.5 - 6.0 mm3.3.2 Aged, min 3.0 mmTest Method: Condition 3 days at 70 +/- 1 C, cool to 23+/- 2 C and determine needle penetration.3.4 SOLIDS, min 95%(ASTM D 2834, except heat at 102 +/- 3 C

Under these storage conditions, the minimum shelf life ofthe material shall be 3 months. When stored at te

9、mperatures below23 C, it shall be conditioned at room temperature prior toapplication. Adequate conditioning permits the material to obtainits maximum application properties.3.9 SUPPLIERS RESPONSIBILITYMaterial supplied to this specification must be equivalent to thatoriginally approved. Changes in

10、formulation or processing shallnot be made without prior approval as described in SupplierProcedure I-A.4. APPROVAL OF SUPPLIERS:Suppliers to this specification must be approved by the affected productengineering office. Procedure for gaining approval of a specificmaterial to a new/existing ES-M spe

11、cification is contained in SupplierProcedure I-A. Approved new suppliers will be added to the EngineeringMaterials Approved Source List.5.
