This sealer issimilar to ESB-M4G267-A, except it does not utilize an EVA film backing.Release paper backing is incorporated on back sides of mat

APPLICATION:This specification was released originally for material used in the BodyShop for sealing joints and openings where welding is a requirement.It has an aggressive pressure sensitive adhesive which promotes adhesionto oiled CRLC steel, galvanized steel and steel-sheet, zinc rich pr

4、imercoated substrates. This sealer has good phosphate wash resistanceproperties. The material expands during the electrocoat bake schedulesnoted per para 6.3.3. REQUIREMENTS:3.1 QUALITY CONTROLSuppliers must conform to the requirements of Ford Quality SystemStandard Q-101, with control charts and pr

5、ocess data analyzedaccording to Ford Continuing Process Control and Process CapabilityImprovement Manual. Additionally, a Control Plan is required formaterial source approvals.3.2 CONDITIONINGAll test values indicated herein are based on materials conditionedin a controlled atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 C

11、GING TEST FIXTURE3.11 SAG RESISTANCE, max 6 mm(FLTM BV 18-1, substrate per para 6.2,material cure schedules per para 6.3)3.12 ADHESION CHARACTERISTICSTest Method: Apply two 200 mm length ribbons of material to eachof two 0.89 x 100 x 300 mm steel panels per para 6.2 and conditionpanels at 23 C +/- 2

12、 C for 1 h. Bake one panel at each materialcure schedule per para 6.3. Position panels in a horizontalattitude during material bake. After bake, condition panels at 23+/- 2 C for 4 h min. Evaluate adhesion by inserting the tip of asharp spatula under the end of the material strip. Grasp the tabof se

13、aler and attempt to peel at 180 deg.The material shall not be removable in a continuous coherent film.Observe for any indication that the material fails to adhere to thesubstrate or is brittle or friable.3.13 LOW TEMPERATURE RESISTANCE No cracking or adhesion failureTest Method: Prepare two 0.89 x 1

14、00 x 300 mm test panels per para3.12. Condition the panels in a mechanical convection oven at 70+/- 2 C for 7 days. Condition the samples at 23 +/- 2 C for 1 h.Place the panels in the slamming apparatus (FLTM BV 1-2) at -29 +/-2 C for 4 hours. Slam each panel a total of 10 times.ENGINEERING MATERIAL

16、75 x 150 mm oily steel panels. Sandwich the materialwith another steel panel as shown in drawing below and weld atintervals indicated. Cure two samples at each of the bakeschedules indicated in para 6.3.Subject the cured assemblies to 500 h salt spray per ASTM B 117.After exposure, condition assembl

18、egularities.3.16 WELD ACCEPTANCE TEST Shall be weldable(FLTM BV 109-2)3.17 FLAMMABILITY WITH CONTINUOUS Less than 5 % of the welds shallSPOT WELDING exhibit flame and shall be(FLTM BV 14-1) self-extinguishing within 30 s3.18 UNCURED ADHESION AND RELEASE PAPER REMOVALThe sealer shall adhere when hand

19、 applied to oily steel surfaces.The material shall be capable of having the release paper backingremoved without distorting the shape of the sealer.3.19 PACKAGINGThe material shall be supplied in sealed packages and materialblocking is not permitted during container shipping or storage.3.20 STORAGE

20、STABILITYShall be stored below 41 C away from all sources of heat andsunlight. Under these storage conditions, the shelf life of thematerial shall be 3 months. when these materials are stored attemperatures below 23 C, they shall be conditioned at roomtemperature prior to application. Adequate condi

21、tioning permitsthe material to obtain its optimum application properties.4 FUNCTIONAL APPROVALMaterials being evaluated for initial approval to this specificationshall be subjected to a production trial. Functional trial resultsshould be available to Design and Materials Engineering prior tomaterial

22、 approval and release.4.1 SUPPLIERS RESPONSIBILITYAll materials supplied to this specification must be equivalent inall characteristics to the material upon which approval wasoriginally granted.Prior to making any change in the properties, composition,construction, color, processing or labeling of t

23、he materialoriginally approved under this specification, whether or not suchchanges affect the materials ability to meet the specificationrequirements, the Supplier shall notify Purchasing, Toxicology andthe affected Materials Engineering activity of the proposed changesand obtain the written approv

24、al of the Materials Engineeringactivity. APPROVAL OF MATERIALS:Materials defined by this specification must have prior approval by theresponsibl

26、e Materials Engineering activity. Suppliers desiring approvalof their materials shall first obtain an expression of interest from theaffected Purchasing, Design and Materials Engineering activity. Uponrequest, the Supplier shall submit to the affected Materials Engineeringactivity its own laboratory

27、 report to the specification (test results,not nominal values), the material designation and code number, and testspecimens for Ford evaluation. Upon approval, the material will be addedto the Engineering Material Approved Source List.6. GENERAL INFORMATION:The material data included herein is for i
