APPLICATIONThis spe cification was released originally for paint used as the

3、 finalcolor co at on automotive bodies, hood, fenders and other exterior parts,and shal l be satisfactory for use over specified primer, enamel sealers,or over-baked enamel, as in repair or tu-toning operations.3. REQUIREMENTS3.1 COMPOSITION3.1.1 Vehicle SolidsThe vehicle solids shall be melamine mo

4、dified acrylicpoly mers with minor amounts of other modifiers and/orplasticizers. No alkyd resin modification is permitted.3.1.2 PigmentShall be balanced and blended so that the finished enamelmatc hes the Ford Motor Company master panel in color andluster and meets the requirements of this specific

Any color which contains 70% or more aluminummetal flake pigment in its pigment composition shall besuppli ed with 2% Tinuvin 328 or Uvinol 400 ultravioletabsorber, based on the vehicle solids of the color.3.1.3 Specific CompositionWhen it is necessary to obtain specific data r

T he volatilityof the solvents is to b e selected to provide a dried film of0.00 150 in (38.1 Fm) minimum without sagging and withsatisf actory freedom from roughness or dry spray. Thevolatile portion shall contain sufficient active solvents togive satisf

35、g south in the Miami, Florida, area for 12months. Exposed panels shall be washed and polished per FLTMBI 3-5. After exposure, the panels sh all show no more evidenceof chalking, dulling, fading, or other color change than thestan dard master sample on file in the Body MaterialsEn gineering Departmen

36、t and shall be no worse than thatexhibited on the exposure panels which were submitted by thesupplier as p roof of durability. In addition, panels shall befree from checking, cracking, peeling, blistering and rustingafter exposure. High metallic colors shall not exhibitpeelin g or blistering when im

37、mersed in deionized water for 16 h and tested per FLTM BI 4-1 after completion of Floridaexposure testing.Th e Florida exposed panels will be prepared for assessment asfollows:1/3 washed and polished1/3 washed only1/3 will remain as received from Florida3.6.4 Accelerated Weathering(FLTM BO 1-1)Panel

38、s prepar ed for FLTM BI 3-2 shall show a minimum degree offading, chalking or dulling. No increase of brittleness orloss of adhesion is permitted and panels shall be completelyfree from evidence of cracking, checki ng, blistering or peelingwhen exposed for 400 h in an Atlas XW Weatherometer.Flo rida

42、minute recovery period.3.6.9 Sag Resistance(FLTM BI 22-1)Shall be equivalent to the control enamel.3.7 REPAIR REQUIREMENTS3.7.1 Repair Color Match(FLTM BI 15-1)Enamel shall show satisfactory color match after recoating andrebaking at standard bake.3.7.2 Intercoat Adhesion(FLTM BI 6-2, Method “B“)No

43、loss of adhesion over sanded or unsanded color coat.3.7.3 Repair Using Catalyst(FLTM BI 15-2)Ena mel shall show satisfactory color match and intercoatadhesion and have a minimum hardness of 5 K.H.N. using anappro ved catalyst at recommended concentration. Bakingtemperatur e for the repair coat shall

The catalyzed repair enamel shall meet allrequirements of para 3.6.3

45、.3.8 Prod uction shipments shall be equivalent to approved purchase samplesin laboratory and production use.3.9 SUPPLIERS RESPONSIBILITYMateri al supplied to this specification must be equivalent to thator iginally approved. Changes in formulation or processing shall notbe made witho ut prior approv
