REQUIREMENTS 3.0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.1 COMPOSITION The material s
、hall be an acrylic lacquer or synthetic enamel pigmented to match the desired color. The material shall be properly formulated to provide good adhesion without crazing or damaging the plastic substrate in any manner. 3.2 PROPERTIES 3.2.1 Non-Volatile Solids (FLTM BI 102-01) To be established by the
、supplier on the initial approved production batch. Tolerance to be +/- 2.0%. 3.2.2 Viscosity (FLTM BI 111-01) Shall be established by the supplier on the initial approved production batch. Tolerance shall be +/- 5 s. 3.2.3 Stability (FLTM BI 102-03) Shall not liver or jell upon standing and must be
、free from settling which is not dispersed by normal agitation. The viscosity of the material shall not increase more than 10 s. Translucent colors shall be equal to approved samples. 3.3 PREPARATION OF TEST PANELS (FLTM BI 103-02, Method “E“ except use plastic in place of steel) In addition to the requirements in the test method, the following shall apply: 3.3.1 Substrate Acrylic
、 plastic (see para 5.3). 3.3.2 Reducing Thinner As recommended by Supplier. 3.3.3 Spray Viscosity 15 - 20 s (FLTM BI 111-01, #4 Ford Cup) 3.3.4 Film Thickness 0.0010 - 0.0015 in (FLTM BI 117-01) (25 -38 m) 3.3.5 Drying When work area is properly ventilated and a temperature of 23 +/- 2 C is maintain
、ed, the material shall dry dust free in 25 min. 3.3.6 Aging All panels shall be aged 24 h minimum at 23 +/- 2 C before testing. 3.4 APPEARANCE 3.4.1 Color Shall match the Ford Motor Company master panel approved by Styling. 3.4.2 Gloss (FLTM BI 110-01) Shall be specified by means of a letter suffix
、to the color number assigned by Styling, as follows: A 92 min F 35 +/- 3 B 80 +/- 4 G 20 +/- 3 C 70 +/- 4 H 10 +/- 3 D 62 +/- 3 J 6 max E 50 +/- 3 ENGINEERING MATERIAL SPECIFICATION ESB-M99J249-A Copyright 2012, Ford Global Technologies, LLC Page 3 of 4 3.4.3 General When properly applied shall dry
、to a smooth, homogeneous film free from mottling, pitting or excessive orange peel. 3.5 FILM PROPERTIES 3.5.1 Adhesion No chipping or flaking. (FLTM BI 106-01) 3.5.2 Cold Impact A painted acrylic panel shall exhibit no less than 50% of the impact resistance of an identical unpainted panel at -29 C.
、Test Method: Use impact apparatus from FLTM BI 108-01, except that a flat base plate with no hole is used. Maintain test apparatus and panels at -29 C for 4 h minimum. Report impact in in-lb (J) necessary to fracture both painted and control panels. 3.6 RESISTANCE PROPERTIES 3.6.1 Abrasion Resistanc
、e, min 200 cycles/0.001 in (FLTM BN 108-02, CS-10 (25 m) paint film wheels, 500 g load) thickness. 3.6.2 Water Resistance, min 24 h Test Method: Immerse the panels in distilled or deionized water maintained at 32 +/- 1 C per FLTM BI 104-01. Remove parts from the water and immediately scribe an X thr
、ough the material to the substrate. Dry the scribed area with a paper towel, cloth or air pressure and immediately apply, with firm thumb pressure, a minimum of 2 in2(13 cm2) of ESF-M3G48-A tape. Remove the tape by pulling one end at a 90 angle at a moderate speed. The following conditions shall be
、basis for rejection: . Removal of paint beyond 1/16 in (1.6 mm) from any scribe line; . Any evidence of blistering after tape removal. 3.6.3 Resistance to Water and Soap Spotting (FLTM BI 113-01, except the use of the colorimeter is omitted) No more dulling or color change than the approved master s
、ample on file in the Body Materials Section. 3.6.4 Resistance to Acid Spotting (FLTM BI 113-02, except the use of the colorimeter is omitted) No more dulling or color change than the approved master sample on file in the Body Material Section. No blistering or any evidence of loss of adhesion. Test Method: Place the painted panel in a
、600 mL beaker half full of M14J148 Petroleum Naphtha - Aliphatic type for 1 h at 21 C minimum. Wipe the panel with a soft cloth and examine the cloth for evidence of color transfer and the paint film for evidence of degradation. 3.6.6 Weathering Resistance Panels prepared in accordance with para 3.3
、 shall show a minimum degree of fading, chalking or dulling. No increase of brittleness or loss of adhesion is permitted and panels shall be completely free from evidence of cracking, checking, blistering or peeling when exposed as follows: . Florida Exposure 6 months minimum at (Miami Area) 45 unde
、r glass facing south. . Accelerated Weathering 200 h (FLTM BO 101-01, Atlas XW Weatherometer) 3.6.7 Water Resistance After Weathering After panels have been subjected to either Florida or Weatherometer exposure as specified in para 3.6.6, they shall be tested for 24 h water resistance as described i
、n para 3.6.2. Peeling of the paint film in excess of 1/8 in (3.2 mm) from the scribe mark shall be cause for rejection. Examine for blistering. Blistering in rinse pattern obviously due to panel preparation shall not be cause for rejection provided adhesion is satisfactory. General blistering is con
