APPLICATION This specification was released originally for a catalyst used to reduce the time required to cure an ESB-M6J123-B Primer Surfacer. 3. REQU

3、IREMENTS 3.1 SPECIFIC GRAVITY, 15.56/15.56 C 0.88 - 0.90 (ASTM D 891) 3.2 FLASH POINT 27 C (ASTM D 93) 3.3 ACID NUMBER 115 +/- 10 (ASTM D 1467) 3.4 COMPOSITION, Wt % 1 - Butanol 75 Phenyl Phosphoric Acid 25 3.5 QUANTITY REQUIRED FOR CONVERSION Parts by volume Unreduced Paint 96 - 99 Catalyst 1 - 4 T

4、he 3:97 catalyst to paint ratio is considered to be the optimum ratio for the ESB-M6J123-B Primer Surfacer baked 12 min at 121 C (see para 3.5). Other catalyst ratios such as 1:99 are acceptable if the performance requirement in para 3.5 is met. 3.6 PERFORMANCE The catalyzed material (paint) must me

5、et the performance requirements of ESB-M6J123-B2 para 3.4 through para 3.6. ENGINEERING MATERIAL SPECIFICATION ESB-M99J307-A Copyright 2012, Ford Global Technologies, LLC Page 2 of 2 3.7 PANEL PREPARATION, INITIAL SAMPLING Apply sufficient ESB-M6J123-C primer reduced per supplier recommendations to

6、obtain 0.0005 - 0.0008 in (13 - 20 m) dry film thickness. Allow the primer to flash for 3 - 5 minutes. Apply the catalyzed ESB-M6J123-B2, reduced per supplier recommendations, wet on wet to a dry film thickness of 0.0006 - 0.0008 in (15 - 20 m). Bake panels approximately 12 min at 121 C to obtain a

7、minimum surface temperature of 96 C for 7 minutes. The total dry film thickness of M6J123-C and M6J123-B2 shall be 0.0013 in (33 m) minimum. Apply ESB-M2J121 elastomeric enamel to one-half of the test panel(s). Bake panels at 121 - 132 C ambient oven temperature for sufficient time to obtain a minim

8、um surface temperature of 116 C for 20 min with 15 min at 121 C. Maximum time at surface temperature of 121 C shall not exceed 20 min. The dry film thickness of the enamel shall be 0.0015 in (39 m) minimum. 5. GENERAL INFORMATION The information given below is provided for clarification and assistan

9、ce in meeting the requirements of this specification. 5.1 FLAMMABILITY AND/OR TOXICITY This material represents a potential fire and/or health hazard. The Manufacturing Engineering Department shall notify both the Plant Security and the Safety Units of its presence in the Plant to assure that proper fire and/or health precautions are provided. The location in which it is used or stored shall be included in the notifications.
