APPLICATION This specification was released originally for material used as an oil seal on va
3、lve stems. NOTICE: This material absorbs and retains moisture. Part design and tolerances must accommodate changes in part dimensions and physical properties due to moisture absorption or loss in the service/assembly environment. Information on this material with respect to moisture should be obtain

REQUIREMENTS 3.0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.1 MOLDING COMPOUND 3.1.1 Fiberglass C

8、2.8 Thermal Stabilizer Present Test Method: Boil 10 g of molded specimen in 50 ml of distilled water for 1/2 h, decant and add with stirring one drop of nitric acid to the water. Add 3 drops of 10% silver nitrate. The formation of a precipitate indicates the presence of heat stabilizer. An optional
9、method may be used if agreed upon by the supplier and the affected product engineering office. 3.3 MOLDED PARTS 3.3.1 Parts shall be uniform in density, texture, finish, free of porosity, warpage, heat scorch, checks, cracks, chipped edges and uneven surfaces. They shall also be free of other contam
10、ination. 3.3.2 Specific Gravity 1.38 - 1.42 (ASTM D 792) 3.3.3 Fiberglass Content, by weight 30.0 - 35.0% 3.3.4 Melting Point, min 249 C (ASTM D 789) 3.3.5 Expansion Impact Resistance (FLTM BO 021-04, valve stem seal only. Dry 1 h at 177 +/- 3 C and cool to room temperature in a moisture free contai

12、 clean rod of 0.3423 - 0.3416 in (8.694 - 8.677 mm) diameter, place a weight equal to 500 times the weight of the seal on top. Heat the assembly for 1 h at 177 +/- 3 C in an air circulating oven and then cool for 1 h at room temperature. Repeat for 3 cycles. Measure travel of seal on the rod. 3.3.9 Thermal Stabilizer Present Test Method: Same as para 3.2.8.
