2、SF-M1P30-A NOT TO BE USED FOR NEW DESIGN 1. SCOPE This specification defines the electro-deposition of copper. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originally for copper plating used for identification, drawing (as lubricant), electrical contact and wear run-in, and carburizing stop-off. 3

REQUIREMENTS 3.0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.1 APPLICATION AND THICKNESS Classification Copper Thickness, min Class 1 Identification Flash Class

4、2 Drawing (as lubricant) 0.0001 (3 m) nominal* Class 3 Electrical Contact and Wear Run-in 0.0002 (5 m) Class 4 Salt Bath and Pack Carburizing 0.0003 (8 m) Class 5 Gas Carburizing 0.0009 (23 m) *Thickness may vary as long as part can be drawn without ill-effect on equipment. 3.2 PLATING METHOD The co

5、pper plating may be applied by any commercial process giving a plating satisfactory for the intended application. (An approved method is described in P1-02-01). 3.3 QUALITY Satisfactory quality shall be indicated by satisfactory function of copper deposit in fulfilling purpose for which it was inten

Page 2 of 2 3.4 BRITTLENESS Parts supplied shall be free from the detrimental effects of hydrogen embrittlement or other factors which result in part brittleness. All hea

7、t-treating operations, including tempering or stress relief, shall be completed prior to plating. Steel parts containing 0.35% carbon or more at the surface, or heat treated to Rockwell C 30 or higher, or highly stressed cold-worked parts, shall be heated within 1 h maximum after plating to a temper

8、ature of 205 C for 4 h at heat. Higher temperature and/or longer times may be used if necessary to avoid any detrimental effects of hydrogen embrittlement. Hardened parts which have been tempered at less than 205 C shall be heated within 1 h maximum after plating to a temperature of 150 C for 8 h at heat, or longer if necessary. 3.5 DETERMINATION OF COATING THICKNESS The amount of copper deposit on the exposed surface shall be determined by optical measurements on a polished section or by an approved mechanical device such as magnegage.
