APPLICATIONThis specification was released originally for material used as spot repairprimer on interior and exterior surfaces of vehicle bodies.The primer is used over current production primer surfacer and on areassanded through to bare metal.The primer
3、is designed for use with waterbased basecoats and solvent basedso lid colour topcoats but is also suitable for use in combination withsolvent borne basecoats.The material is suitable for electrostatic spray application.3. REQUIREMENTS3.1 STATISTICAL PROCESSSupplie rs must conform to the requirements
4、 of Ford Quality SystemStand ard Q-101. A mutually acceptable Control Plan as describedtherein is required for material/source approval. Appropriatestatist ical tools must be used to analyze process/product data sothat variation in the final product is continuously reduced.3.2 INFRARED SPECTROPHOTOM
5、ETRY AND/OR THERMAL ANALYSISFord Motor Company, at its option, may conduct infrared and/ortherma l analysis of material/parts supplied to this specification.The IR spectra and thermograms established for i nitial approval shallconst itute the reference standard and shall be kept on file at thedesign
6、ated material laboratory. All samples sha ll product IR spectraand thermograms that correspond to the reference standard when testedunder the same conditions.3.3 CONDITIONINGAll test values indicated herein are based on ma terial conditioned ina control led atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5 % re

11、;Air drying: 15 minutes.Sanding:After air drying, the primer shall be sanded and wiped offwith cleaning petrolTop Coat:Application of Ford Engineering approved current productiontop coat materials, film thickness and baking as specified inthe relevant Material specification.Colours: Two coat silver

13、oved primer surfacer.Film t hickness and baking as specified in the relevantMaterial Specifications.The Test panels shall b e sanded through to bare metal in thecentre in a spot of 30 mm diameter using P400 sanding paperand cleaning petrol. After wipe off with cleani ng petrol thepanels are primed a
14、nd painted as shown in 3.6.1.3.6.3 Ageing:Test panels prepared under this specification shall be agedfor at least 72 h at 23 +/- 2 C or 16 h at 45 +/- 1 C beforetesting for resistance properties.3.7 APPEARANCE (Primer only)Col our, gloss and surface finish shall match master Trim Sampleand/or Master
15、 Appearance Sample as approved by Design.3.7.1 Colour light grey or(FLTM BI 109-01) beige3.7.2 Gloss, visual matt3.8 PAINT FILM PROPERTIES3.8.1 LevelingThe sur face of the primer shall be smooth without anystructure and not more than a minimum of orange peel whenapplied in a dry film thickness of 25
16、 micrometre.3.8.2 HoldoutNo evidence of dulling, no craters or pinholes and no changein i mage clarity when enamel colour coat is applied overunsanded repair primer.Test pan els prepared according to para 3.6.2 shall show nosanding scratches, no markings of the sanded thr ough spot andno marking at

23、, composition,co nstruction, color, processing or labelling of the materialorig inally approved under this specification, whether or not suchchange s affect the materials ability to meet the specificationrequir ements, the Supplier shall notify Purchasing, Toxicology andthe affected Materials Engine
24、ering activity of the proposed changesand obtain the written approval of the Materials Engineeringactivity. Test data, t est samples and a new code identification areto be submitted with the request.Substance restrictions imposed by law, regulations or Ford apply tothe materials addressed by this do
25、cument. The restrictions aredefined in Engineering Material Specification WS S-M99P9999-A1, unlessa different suffix (e.g., A2 or A3) is specified on the engineeringdocument for the application.4. APPROVAL OF MATERIALSMat erials defined by this specification must have prior approval by theresp onsib
26、le Materials Engineering activity. Suppliers desiring approvalof thei r materials shall first obtain an expression of interest from theaffec ted Purchasing, Design and Materials Engineering activity. Uponrequest, the Supplier shall submit to the affected Materials Engineeringactivity a completed cop
27、y of their laboratory test reports, signed by aqualified and authorized representative of the test faci lity, demonstratingful l compliance with all the requirements of this specification (testresults, not nominal values), the material designation a nd code number, andtes t specimens for Ford evalua
28、tion. In addition to meeting therequi rements of this specification, the materials will be assessed forsuita bility for intended applications as part of the approval process.Upo n approval, the material will be added to the Engineering MaterialApproved Source List.5.
