2、 of 3 CLEANER, AUTOMATIC CHOKE AND CARBURETOR LINKAGE ESR-M14P10-A 1. SCOPE This specification establishes the performance and product requirements for an automotive automatic choke and carburetor linkage cleaner. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originally for material used to dissolv
3、e and remove deposits of varnish, grease and gum. This specification is not intended to limit the automatic choke and carburetor linkage cleaner to any specific material or material system, but rather defines the performance of the entire system. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCT
4、ION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.1 Shall be of such composition that it meets all the requirements described in this specification and shall be in a form capable of being used as packag
5、ed. 3.2 Must dissolve and remove deposits of varnish, gum and grease from the automatic choke and carburetor linkage of an automotive engine without any detrimental effect upon engine components. 3.3 Shall not have any detrimental effects on the metal, plastic, rubber or gasket material of the carbu
6、retor system. 3.4 Shall have no detrimental effect on engine compartment electrical insulation or painted surfaces. 3.5 Provisions of this specification are applicable when the cleaner is used according to labeling directions, unless otherwise stated. Precautionary notes, such as the detrimental eff
7、ect on painted surfaces, etc., involved in the use of the material should be clearly stated on the product label. 3.6 Must be reasonably safe to apply and must meet all federal, state and local regulations. The material must be formulated to minimize health hazards to the individual due to toxic or
8、otherwise injurious ingredients. 3.7 Must be capable of storage without any detrimental effect for an extended period of time. Supplier shall furnish all necessary information on types of material required for packaging and on the storage life of the material in each of the product packages supplied
9、. For any particular size package or container for the product, the supplier shall furnish information on safe storage practice and recommendations as to maximum and minimum ambient temperatures and direct sun load conditions at which the product may be stored without any adverse effect. For all aer
10、osol containers, the supplier shall furnish all pertinent information on pressures and propellants and any precautions involved in storing, handling and use. 11、CHEMICAL & PHYSICAL PROPERTIES Specific chemical and physical properties are not specified herein, but an Engineering Quality Control Supplement will be issued to cover each approved material. The selected engineering approved source shall furnish appropriate chemical and physical properties along w
12、ith the production tolerance limits that apply to the material(s) upon which approval was given. The agreed upon values and limits will be issued to Quality Control by the affected product engineering office. These values will then be used by Quality control for ongoing quality verifications. The Qu
13、ality Control Supplement is an integral requirement of this specification. If more than one source supplies material to this specification, a Quality Control Supplement will be issued for each specific approved material. 3.9 LABELING 3.9.1 Provisions of this specification are applicable when materia
14、l is used according to labeling directions. Any precautions involved in the use of the material must be clearly stated on the product label. 3.9.2 The label(s) for the material(s) must comply to the Federal Hazardous Substances Act and all other provisions under the Consumer Product Safety Commissio
15、n and all other applicable federal, state and local regulations. Supplier shall furnish the affected product engineering office with the label(s). 3.9.3 Supplier shall furnish certification that the composition of his product has been examined and that the label recommended is in compliance with the
16、 Federal Hazardous Substances Act and all other provisions under the Consumer Product Safety Commission. Completed Material Health and Safety Data Sheets and Hazardous Substances Data Sheets must be submitted by the supplier to the Ford Motor Company toxicologist. 3.9.4 If applicable, supplier shall
17、 furnish a copy of the laboratory report wherein the product was evaluated under the procedures required by the Federal Hazardous Substances Act. 3.9.5 Supplier must furnish detailed application instructions and specific usage information for container labels. This portion of the label information m
18、ust be approved by the affected product engineering office. 3.9.6 If the label submitted by the supplier contains any advertising claims, suitable corroborative testing data must also be furnished. Such claims and data are encouraged. 3.10 MARKING Containers and cartons must be marked with a code in
19、dicating source and compounding date of the material. Supplier must furnish this code to the affected product engineering office. Container marking may be waived if approved in writing by the affected product engineering office. 3.11 The test report data furnished by the supplier showing compliance
20、with this specification shall give the specific test methods followed and shall give specific answers to generalized requirements. 21、thods (American Society for Testing and Materials, Society of Automotive Engineers and Ford Laboratory Test Methods are preferred) and procedures should be followed where such methods are known, otherwise the methods of evaluation should be explained in detail. 5. GENERAL INFORMATION The information given below is provided for clarification and assistance in meeting the requirements of this specification. 5.1 Comparative performance data ratings utilizing the requirements outlined above, comparing the proposed material(s) to presently marketed Ford Motor Company products, are encouraged.
