2、URPOSE AUTOMOTIVE ESR-M14P4-A 1. SCOPE This specification establishes the performance and product requirements for a multi-purpose automotive interior and/or exterior reconditioning cleaner. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originally for material used for cleaning car and truck materi
3、als. This specification is not intended to limit the cleaning material to any specific material system or materials such as liquid concentrates, powders, gels, sprays, or ready-to-use materials, but defines the performance of the entire system. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTIO
4、N MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.1 Shall be of such a composition that meets all requirements described in this specification. The material or material system must be in a form that lends
5、 itself to ease of application. It must either be in a ready-to-use or readily mixed form. Any mixing agents should either be part of the system or be readily available, commercial items. 3.2 Must do an efficient cleaning job in removing normally encountered dirt, soil, oil, grease, and most commonl
6、y encountered stains with minimum time and effort. 3.3 Must not have any detrimental effect on the applied materials or affect their function in any adverse way. 3.4 Must be safe to apply and must meet all federal, state, and local regulations. The material must be formulated to minimize employee he
7、alth hazards due to toxic or otherwise injurious ingredients. 3.5 Should not excessively wet the applied materials and should dry in a minimum amount of time. 3.6 After application, the cleaning material shall not leave any residue or cause streaking or any other objectionable condition detrimental
8、to the applied material or customer contact. 3.7 No objectionable odor either during or after application. 9、ffect for an extended period of time. Supplier shall furnish all necessary information on types of material required for packaging and on the storage life of the material in each of the product packages supplied. For any particular size package or container for the product, the supplier shall furnis
10、h information on safe storage practice and recommendations as to maximum and minimum ambient temperatures and direct sun load conditions at which the product may be stored without any adverse effect. If the package is considered unsafe for storage in an automotive vehicle, the package shall be label
11、ed accordingly and the safe storage conditions specified. For all aerosol containers, the supplier shall furnish all pertinent information on pressures and propellants and any precautions involved in storing, handling, and use. 3.9 The amount required to clean various surfaces should be a minimum qu
12、antity for efficient usage and should have a minimum waste factor. Estimated amounts of cleaning material required for various applications should be furnished. 3.10 Must not have any detrimental effect on other automotive parts that may come into contact with the cleaner, such as bright trim parts,
13、 interior or exterior painted surfaces, rubber (natural or synthetic), gaskets, glass, plastic windows or any other associated material. Material must not stain either interior or exterior automotive production or repair paints. 3.11 CHEMICAL & PHYSICAL PROPERTIES Specific chemical and physical prop
14、erties are not specified herein, but an Engineering Quality Control Supplement will be issued to cover each approved material. The selected engineering approved source shall furnish appropriate chemical and physical properties along with the production tolerance limits that apply to the material(s)
15、upon which approval was given. The agreed upon values and limits will be issued to Quality Control by the affected product engineering office. These values will then be used by Quality Control for ongoing quality verifications. The Quality Control Supplement is an integral requirement of this specif
16、ication. If more than one source supplies material to this specification, a Quality Control Supplement will be issued for each specific approved material. 3.12 LABELING 3.12.1 Provisions of this specification are applicable when material is used according to labeling directions. Any precautions invo
17、lved in the use of the material must be clearly stated on the product label. 3.12.2 The label(s) for the material(s) must comply with the Federal Hazardous Substances Act and all other provisions under the Consumer Product Safety Commission and all other applicable federal, state and local regulatio
18、ns. Supplier shall furnish the affected product engineering office with the label(s). 3.12.3 Supplier shall furnish certification that the composition of his product has been examined and that the label recommended is in compliance with the Federal Hazardous Substances Act and all other provisions u
19、nder the Consumer Product Safety Commission. Completed Material Health and Safety Data Sheets and Hazardous Substances Data Sheets must be submitted by the supplier to the Ford Motor Company toxicologist. 3.12.4 If applicable, supplier shall furnish a copy of the laboratory report wherein the produc
20、t was evaluated under the procedures required by the Federal Hazardous Substances Act. 21、usage information for container labels. This portion of the label information must be approved by the affected product engineering office. 3.12.6 If the label submitted by the supplier contains any advertising claims, suitable corroborative testing data must also be furnished. Such claims and data a
22、re encouraged. 3.13 MARKING Containers and cartons must be marked with a code indicating source and compounding date of the material. Supplier must furnish this code to the affected product engineering office. Container marking may be waived if approved in writing by the affected product engineering
23、 office. 3.14 The test report data furnished by the supplier showing compliance with this specification shall give the specific test methods followed and shall give specific answers to generalized requirements. 3.15 Generally accepted test methods (American Society for Testing and Materials, Society
24、 of Automotive Engineers and Ford Laboratory Test Methods are preferred) and procedures should be followed where such methods are known, otherwise the methods of evaluation should be explained in detail. 5. GENERAL INFORMATION The information given below is provided for clarification and assistance in meeting the requirements of this specification. 5.1 Comparative performance data ratings utilizing the requirements outlined above, comparing the proposed material(s) to presently marked Ford Motor Company products, are encouraged.
