SCOPE This specification defines the performance and product requirements for a windshield washer and antifreeze solution. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originally for material used in cleaning the windsh
3、ield on automotive vehicles. This specification is not intended to limit the washer solution to any specific material or material system, but rather defines the performance of the entire system. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers
4、must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.1 Shall be of such a composition that meets all requirements of this specification. The material must be in a form that lends itself to ease of use. 3.2 When used at recommended dilutions in water, the so
5、lution must effectively clean and quickly remove road soil, salt and hydrocarbon residues, when used with the windshield wiper system. 3.3 No objectionable odor either during or after repeated applications of the solution. 3.4 Must not adversely affect original or repair paint finishes, chromium, ru
6、bber, glass or vinyl materials. 3.5 Should not leave an objectionable residue outside the wipe pattern or on the vehicle. 3.6 Must not streak, smear, haze or otherwise obscure the vision of the vehicle operator, or cause a film or effect resulting in nighttime headlamp or light glare. 3.7 Shall caus
7、e no adverse effect on an automotive windshield washer system or the component parts. 3.8 Must be clear and free of any precipitate or residue that would plug the washer nozzles or cause malfunction of the washer pump or system. 3.9 Must be rapid drying. 3.10 At recommended concentrations, must depr
8、ess the freezing point to a -19 C maximum. 3.11 Must be compatible with other washer solvents. 9、extended period of time. Supplier shall furnish all necessary information on types of material required for packaging and on the storage life of the material in each of product package supplied. For any particular site package or container for the product, the supplier shall furnish information on s
10、afe storage practice and recommendations as to maximum and minimum ambient temperatures and direct sun load conditions at which the product may be stored without any adverse effect. If the package is considered unsafe for storage in an automotive vehicle, the package shall be labeled accordingly and
11、 the unsafe storage conditions specified. 3.13 CHEMICAL & PHYSICAL PROPERTIES Specific chemical and physical properties are not specified herein, but an Engineering Quality Control Supplement will be issued to cover each approved material. The selected engineering approved source shall furnish appro
12、priate chemical and physical properties along with the production tolerance limits that apply to the material(s) upon which approval was given. The agreed upon values and limits will be issued to Quality Control by the affected product engineering office. These values will then be used by Quality Co
13、ntrol for ongoing quality verifications. The Quality Control Supplement is an integral requirement of this specification. If more than one source supplies material to this specification, a Quality Control Supplement will be issued for each specific approved material. 3.14 LABELING 3.14.1 Provisions
14、of this specification are applicable when material is used according to labeling directions. Any precautions involved in the use of the material must be clearly stated on the product label. 3.14.2 The label(s) for the material(s) must comply with the Federal Hazardous Substances Act and all other pr
15、ovisions under the Consumer Product Safety Commission and all other applicable federal, state and local regulations. Supplier shall furnish the affected product engineering office with the label(s). 3.14.3 Supplier shall furnish certification that the composition of his product has been examined and
16、 that the label recommended is in compliance with the Federal Hazardous Substances Act and all other provisions under the Consumer Product Safety Commission. Completed Material Health and Safety Data Sheets and Hazardous Substances Data Sheets must be submitted by the supplier to the Ford Motor Comp
17、any toxiologist. 3.14.4 If applicable, supplier shall furnish a copy of the laboratory report wherein the product was evaluated under the procedures required by the Federal Hazardous Substances Act. 3.14.5 Supplier must furnish detailed application instructions and specific usage information for con
18、tainer labels. This portion of the label information must be approved by the affected product engineering office. 3.14.6 If the label submitted by the supplier contains any advertising claims, suitable corroborative testing data must also be furnished. Such claims and data are encouraged. ENGINEERIN

Supplier must furnish this code to the affected p
20、roduct engineering office. Container marking may be waived if approved in writing by the affected product engineering office. 3.16 The test report data furnished by the supplier showing compliance with this specification shall give the specific test methods followed and shall give specific answers t
21、o generalized requirements. 3.17 Generally accepted test methods (American Society for Testing and Materials, Society of Automotive Engineers and Ford Laboratory Test Methods are preferred) and procedures should be followed where such methods are known, otherwise the methods of evaluation should be
22、explained in detail. 5. GENERAL INFORMATION The information given below is provided for clarification and assistance in meeting the requirements of this specification. 5.1 Comparative performance data ratings utilizing the requirements outlined above, comparing the proposed material(s) to presently marketed Ford Motor Company products, are encouraged.
