SCOPE This specification establishes the performance and product requirements for a general purpose long-life automotive lubricant. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originally for grease used to lubricate hinges, do

3、or latches, seat tracks and other related body hardware. It is not intended that this material satisfy the requirements of specialized greases such as U-joint lubricant, steering lubricant, etc. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material Suppliers and part producers

4、must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.1 GENERAL 3.1.1 This material shall be of such composition that it will meet all requirements described in this specification. It must be capable of being used as packaged. 3.1.2 The material shall have c

5、haracteristics suitable for ease of application. If the material is an aerosol, it shall be dispensed rapidly, uniformly and shall have a minimum of sprayback. If the material is dispensed from a tube, the components must remain homogeneous and of gel-like consistency. 3.1.3 The material must be rea

6、sonably safe to apply and must meet all federal, state and local regulations. The material must be formulated to minimize health hazards due to toxic or otherwise injurious ingredients. 3.1.4 The material shall tolerate some degree of contamination without a significant change in characteristics. 3.

7、1.5 The material shall resist leakage, dripping or throw-off from lubricated surfaces. 3.1.6 There shall be no objectionable odor either during or after application. 3.1.7 This material shall be a homogeneous product, free from abrasive fillers, lumps and other impurities. It shall be non-corrosive

8、to the lubricated parts in service. 3.1.8 This material must not cause any harmful effects nor impair the function of elastomer seals and other materials of construction in the lubricated mechanism. 3.1.9 The test report data furnished by the supplier showing compliance with this specification shall

9、 give the specific test methods followed and shall give specific answers to the generalized requirements. 10、for Testing and Materials, Society of Automotive Engineers and Ford Laboratory Test Methods are preferred) and procedures should be followed where such methods are known, otherwise the method of evaluation should be explained in detail. 3.1.11 Comparative performance data ratings utilizing the proce

11、dure outlined above, comparing presently marketed Ford Motor Company products, are encouraged. 3.2 PERFORMANCE 3.2.1 Water Washout, max 7% (ASTM D 1264 at 80 C) 3.2.2 Oil Separation, max 12 ml (ASTM D 1742, 96 h) 3.2.3 Film Strength Durability, max scar 1.0 mm width (no score) (FLTM BJ 101-04, 8 h,

15、(from 3.2.3) in a chamber (Bell jar) at 95 - 100% relative humidity and 23 +/- 2 C for 300 h. Clean cup with solvent and examine under microscope. 3.2.7 The material must be capable of storage without any detrimental effect for an extended period of time. Supplier shall furnish all necessary informa

16、tion on types of material required for packaging and on the storage life of the material in each of the product packages supplied. For any particular size package or container for the product, the supplier shall furnish information on safe storage practice and recommendations as to the maximum and m

17、inimum ambient temperatures and direct sun load conditions at which the product may be stored without any adverse effects. If the package is considered unsafe for storage in an automotive vehicle, the package shall be labeled accordingly and the safe storage conditions specified. 3.3 LABELING Provis

18、ions of this specification are applicable when material is used according to labeling directions. Any precautions involved in the use of the material should be clearly stated on the product label. The label(s) for the material(s) must comply to the Federal Hazardous Substances Act and all other prov

19、isions under the Consumer Product Safety Commission and all other applicable federal, state and local regulations. Supplier shall furnish the affected product engineering office with the label(s). Supplier shall furnish certification that the composition of his product has been examined and that the

20、 label recommended is in compliance with the Federal Hazardous Substances Act and all other provisions under the Consumer Product Safety Commission. Completed Material Health and Safety Data Sheets and Hazardous Substances Data Sheets must be submitted by the supplier to the Ford Motor Company toxic

21、ologist. If applicable, supplier shall furnish a copy of the laboratory report wherein the product was evaluated under the procedures required by the Federal Hazardous Substances Act. Supplier must furnish detailed application instructions and specific usage information for container labels. This po

22、rtion of the label information must be approved by the affected product engineering office. If the label submitted by the supplier contains any advertising claims, suitable corroborative testing data must also be furnished. Such claims and data are encouraged. 3.4 MARKING Containers and cartons must

23、 be marked with a code indicating source and compounding date of the material. Supplier must furnish this code to the affected product engineering office. The select

25、ed engineering approved source shall furnish appropriate chemical and physical properties along with the production tolerance limits that apply to the material(s) upon which approval was given. The agreed upon values and limits will be issued to Quality Control by the affected product engineering of

26、fice. These values will then be used by Quality Control for ongoing quality verifications. The Quality Control Supplement is an integral requirement of this specification. If more than one source supplies material to this specification, a Quality Control Supplement will be issued for each specific approval material.
