2、e 1 of 3 ADDITIVE, ENGINE OIL - SERVICE ESR-M99C80-A NOT TO BE USED FOR NEW DESIGN 1. SCOPE The material defined by this specification is a crankcase oil additive. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originally for additives used to improve the performance of SA, SB, SC or SD straight or
3、multi-grade service engine oils, and as a new or rebuilt engine break-in aid. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.1 The material shall
4、be of such composition that when used per label instructions, it will meet all the requirements described in this specification. It must be in a form permitting easy application. It must be capable of application as purchased or with equipment normally available to shop and home. 3.2 The material mu
5、st be reasonably safe to apply and must meet all applicable federal, state and local regulations. The material must be formulated to minimize health hazards due to toxic or otherwise injurious ingredients. 3.3 There shall be no objectionable odor during or after use. 3.4 PERFORMANCE 3.4.1 When added
6、 to SAE designated oil grades SA, SB, etc., the additive must improve one or more of the primary performance criteria, and must not adversely affect any of the primary performance criteria. Supplier must furnish certified data showing primary performance of the oil(s) before and after using the addi
7、tive. An additive advancing a grade SA to grade SD is preferable to one advancing it from SA to SB, or SB to SC, etc. 3.4.2 The additive must have no harmful effect on the engine to which it is applied or ancillary parts thereof. 3.4.3 The additive must be formulated to minimize ash content of the f
8、inished oil. 3.4.4 The additive must be compatible with all commercial engine oils of SAE series “S“ designation and shall have no adverse effect when added to already fully formulated engine oils such as SD or better. 3.4.5 The additive must have no adverse effect on engine exhaust emissions. 3.4.6
9、 The additive must be effective in preventing wear when used as a break-in additive in new or rebuilt engines or engine components. 10、ons must be marked with a code indicating source and compounding date of the material. Supplier must furnish this code to the affected product engineering office. Container marking may be waived if approved in writing by the affected product engineering office. 3.6 The material must be capable of st
11、orage without any detrimental effect for an extended period of time. Supplier shall furnish all necessary information on types of materials required for packaging and on the storage life of the material in each of the product packages supplied. For any particular size package or container for the pr
12、oduct, the supplier shall furnish information on safe storage practice and recommendations as to maximum and minimum ambient temperatures and direct sun load conditions at which the product may be stored without any adverse effect. If the package is considered unsafe for storage in an automotive veh
13、icle, the package shall be labeled accordingly and the safe storage conditions specified. 3.7 CHEMICAL AND PHYSICAL PROPERTIES Specific chemical and physical properties are not specified herein, but an Engineering Quality Control Supplement will be issued to cover each approved material. The selecte
14、d engineering approved source shall furnish appropriate chemical and physical properties along with the production tolerance limits that apply to the material(s) upon which approval was given. The agreed upon values and limits will be issued to Quality Control by the affected product engineering off
15、ice. These values will then be used by Quality Control for ongoing quality verifications. The Quality Control Supplement is an integral requirement of this specification. If more than one source supplies material to this specification, a Quality Control Supplement will be issued for each specific ap
16、proved material. 3.8 LABELLING Provisions of this specification are applicable when material is used according to labeling directions. Any precautions involved in the use of the material must be clearly stated on the product label. The label(s) for the material(s) must comply to the Federal Hazardou
17、s Substances Act and all other provisions under the Consumer Product Safety Commission and all other applicable federal, state and local regulations. Supplier shall furnish the affected product engineering office with the label(s). Supplier shall furnish certification that the composition of his pro
18、duct has been examined and that the label recommended is in compliance with the Federal Hazardous Substances Act and all other provisions under the Consumer Product Safety Commission. Completed Material Health and Safety Data Sheets and Hazardous Substances Data Sheets must be submitted by the suppl
19、ier to the Ford Motor Company toxicologist. If applicable, supplier shall furnish a copy of the laboratory report wherein the product was evaluated under the procedures required by the Federal Hazardous Substances Act. Supplier must furnish detailed application instructions and specific usage inform
20、ation for container labels. This portion of the label information must be approved by the affected product engineering office. 21、er must submit a test report from an independent testing laboratory showing compliance with this specification. However, this requirement may be waived if suppliers test data is of sufficient quantity and quality to assure compliance. The test report data furnished by the supplier showing compliance
22、 with this specification shall give the specific test methods followed and shall give specific answers to generalized requirements. Generally accepted test methods (American Society for Testing and Materials, Society of Automotive Engineers and Ford Laboratory Test Methods are preferred) and procedu
23、res should be followed where such methods are known, otherwise the methods of evaluation should be explained in detail. Comparative performance data ratings utilizing the requirements outlined above, comparing the proposed material(s) to presently marketed Ford Motor Company products, are encouraged.
