REQUIREMENTS3.1 CLEANINGSurfa ces to be coated shall be cleaned free from grease, oil, rustand/or other foreign materials and shall be thoroughly dry beforecoating is applied.3.2 MODE OF APPLICATIONMay be applied electrostatically o
4、r sprayed by the seal suppliers.It shall dry on the seals in 10 min (depending on seal size) whenforce dried as follows:3.2.1 Electrostatic ApplicationIn air circulating convection oven maintained at 183 +/- 5 C.3.2.2 Spray ApplicationUnder infrared lamps located approximately 250 m m from seals.Non

8、 the tape.3.9 FLAKING OR POWDERINGScrape the coated surface until clean metal appears. The scrapingsshall be free from flakes or powder.3.10 INFRARED SPECTROPHOTOMETRYFord Motor Company, at its option, may conduct infrared analysis ofmateri al/parts supplied to this specification. The spectraesta bl
9、ished for initial approval shall constitute the referencest andard and shall be kept on file at the designated materiallaboratory. All samples shall produce spectra t hat correspond to thereferen ce standard when tested under the same conditions as thosespecified on the master spectrum.3.11 STATISTI
10、CAL PROCESSSupplie rs must conform to the requirements of Ford Quality SystemStand ard Q-101. A mutually acceptable Control Plan as describedtherein is required for material/source approval. Appropriatestatist ical tools must be used to analyze process/product data sothat variation in the final prod

13、terials Engineering activity of the proposed changesand obtain the written approval of the Materials Engineeringactivity. Test data, t est samples and a new code identification areto be submitted with the request.Substance restrictions imposed by law, regulations or Ford, apply tothe materials addre
14、ssed by this document. The restrictions aredefined in Engineering Material Specification WS S-M99P9999-A1, unlessa different suffix (e.g., A2 or A3) is specified on the engineeringdocument for the application.4. APPROVAL OF MATERIALSMat erials defined by this specification must have prior approval b
15、y theresponsible Materials Engineeri ng activity. Suppliers desiring approval ofthe ir materials shall first obtain an expression of interest from theaffec ted Purchasing, Design and Materials Engineering activity. Uponrequest, the Supplier shall submit to the affected Materials Engineeringactivity
16、its own laboratory rep ort to the specification (test results, notnominal values), the material designation and code number, and testspecim ens for Ford evaluation. Upon approval, the material will be addedto the Engineering Material Approved Source List.5. GENERAL INFORMATIONThe mate rial data incl

TheManufacturing Engineering Department shall notify both the PlantSecurity and the Safety Units of its presence in the plant to assurethat proper fire and/or health precautions are p rovided. The locationin which it is used or stored shall be included in the notifications.
